6th International Conference on e‐Infrastructure and e‐Services for Developing Countries

Scope

Deploying efficient and effective infrastructures and solutions when limited resources are available is a challenging task and a key-enabler for the diffusion of ICT in developing countries. The aim of this conference is bringing together international researchers, students, public officers, policy makers and practitioners in ICT to discuss issues and trends, recent research, innovation advances and on-the-field experiences related to e-Governance, e-Infrastructure, and e-Business with a focus on developing countries.
AFRICOMM 2014  is organized into three Tracks, two of them organized as Research Tracks and one as Policy & Governance Track. The Research Tracks will consist of presentations of research findings in defined themes proposed for the conference.

Paper submission

AFRICOMM offers 4 opportunities of paper submission:
– Research papers: no more than 10 pages of original work;
– Student papers: no more than 5 pages of student/ongoing work;
– Extended abstracts: no more than 2 pages of discussion;
– Posters: no more than 2 pages of work-in-progress description.

Contributions should be submitted electronically as PDF in EasyChair and have to comply with the SPRINGER format.

Publication

All accepted contributions will be published by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes of ICST (LNICST) and will be submitted to the major indexing services (e.g.Google Scholar, ISI, EICompendex, Scopus), as well as in EAI’s own EU Digital Library (EUDL) in Open Access format.
Selected papers may be invited to publish in the EAI Endorsed Transactions on on e-Busineess

Topics

AFRICOMM’2014 solicits high-quality papers reporting research results and/or experimental results on e-Infrastructures and e-Services for developing countries. Submissions will be judged on their originality, significance, clarity, relevance, and technical correctness.
The topics of interest to the conference include, but are not limited to:

-ICT infrastructures based on alternative energies

-Emergency and Disaster Management
-e-Health, e-Learning, e-Agriculture, e-Participation
-Mobile-based computing and services
-Open source models for e-Services
-Geographic Information Systems
-Public sector modernization with ICT
-Governance of ICT projects in developing countries
-Change management, interoperability, and standardsInnovation management
-Computational and data processing techniques for service delivery in development context
-Testbeds and reference implementation for exploring and validating infrastructure requirements and usage
-Wireless sensor network and applications

Call for Workshop Papers

Workshop on Key factors for sustainable ICT development in Emerging Regions

The goal of this workshop is to identify the key factors for sustainable ICT developments in emerging regions.

Submitted papers should present and discuss concrete ‘lessons learned’ regarding ICT development efforts in and for emerging regions, including, but not limited to

a) Collaborations with international corporations b) R&D efforts between institutions in developed and emerging regions c) Efforts funded by donor organizations focusing on a sustainable socio-economic impact.
