We are in a process of editing a book on “Soft Computing Applications in Sensor Networks” to be published by the CRC press, Taylor & Francis Group. Therefore, we invite you to submit one or more book chapters for the volume. Please also circulate it among your colleagues. Details are given below.
Soft computing is an emerging methodology for robust and cost-effective problem solving involving uncertain environments. The different features of soft computing facilitate real-time information processing in the presence of such environments. Thus, several solution techniques, such as fuzzy logic, granular computing, ant colony optimization, particle swarm optimization, and genetic algorithms, have major impact in solving problems where precise mathematical models are unavailable.
Concurrently, sensor networking is currently popular for real-time monitoring involving remote sensing, ubiquitous health monitoring, target tracking, localization. A sensor network is an integration of typically heterogeneous sensors (hardware) with wireless communication infrastructure, middleware, and software tools. The general problem can be broken down into several steps, including channel access, routing, data aggregation, location estimation, and target tracking, while sensor nodes are known as energy constraint devices.
Recently, soft computing methodologies are demonstrated to be promising for solving different problems in sensor networks such as efficient learning and uncertainty handling. Several conference and journal papers on applying soft computing techniques in sensor networking have appeared in the past few years. Therefore, proposed book chapters are intended to contribute different soft computing applications to address the problems related to sensor networks.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Submission Details:
High quality contributions ideally between 20-30 book format pages that are not yet published or that are not currently under review are sought, which can be considered as different chapters in the book. The editors intend to integrate all the chapters in the book in a manner which can render it as a supplementary reference book or text book for use in an advanced course on sensor networks. Prospective authors are requested to initially submit as soon as possible (and latest by June 15, 2014), a short abstract of 100-150 words describing the chapter they intend to submit for review. Only Latex format submissions will be considered. Later on authors of selected chapters might also be requested to provide 15-20 PowerPoint slides on their chapter that can be used for teaching in the classrooms. Submission of a chapter for review would imply the readiness of the author(s) to publish the chapter in the book, if selected. Upon acceptance of the manuscript, the corresponding author will be sent guidelines for preparing the camera-ready copy of the chapter. Authors of accepted chapters would also be required to sign an agreement of copyright transfer and an originality statement to the publisher.
Important Dates:
• Chapter proposal (1-2 pages with tentative table of contents): June 15, 2014
• Submission of full manuscript in a specified format: October 31, 2014
• Notification of acceptance: November 30, 2014
• Final version with notifications, if necessary: December 31, 2014
