As the flagship conference sponsored by the IEEE Smart Cities Initiative that is a coalition of six IEEE technical societies and organizations, ISC2-2019 will bring together researchers and practitioners in a collaborative smart cities discussion, including scholars, citizens, policymakers, administrators, infrastructure operators, industry representatives, economists, sociologists, and academicians. Technical exchanges within the research community will encompass panels, plenary talks, technical sessions, tutorials, workshops and exhibitions.
Conference Theme: "Frugality and Inclusion paving the way towards Future Smart Sustainable Cities & Communities"
“Frugal Social Smart City” is a new concept, proposed for Casablanca, Morocco. It is based on a global bottom-up multidisciplinary approach that relies on the informational and functional cost-effective integration of various urban complex systems such as transport, health, energy, governance, etc. It puts citizens at the center of the transformation process paving the way towards a future smart sustainable cities & communities which turns societal and economic challenges into business opportunities, human development and well-being society.
Following this, Casablanca was selected by IEEE Smart City Initiative (SCI) in 2015 same year as Kansas City in USA to engage as IEEE Core Smart Cities and to join Guadalajara, Trento and Wuxi selected by IEEE SCI in 2014 in order to contribute in implementing the new vision for future smart cities and to share their knowledge and experience with the global scientific community.
IEEE ISC2 2019 will contribute to further develop technical best practices across broad application and functional domains within the context of user centric cost effective urban/rural infrastructure systems, and disseminate them to the broad stakeholders.
