2023 ICRA Workshop on Socially acceptable robots: concepts, techniques, and applications

We invite contributed papers for the workshop “Socially acceptable robots (SOLAR): concepts, techniques, and applications”, planned for ICRA 2023 on May 29 in London.

Website: https://www.sociallyhri-icra2023.unimore.it/

The workshop aims to bring together roboticists from academia and industry to share their latest developments and vision on socially acceptable robots. To this end, we have identified four main pathways for enhancing social acceptance in the design of next-generation robotic systems: user profiling, modelling, and understanding; interaction and communication modalities; implementation of socially acceptable behaviours; and characterisation of relevant application scenarios. The discussion will be focused on the following themes:

  • How can robots model, profile and understand users?
  • How should interaction and communication happen?
  • How can socially acceptable robots be implemented?
  • Where can socially acceptable robots be implemented?

Prospective participants are welcome to submit full papers (4 to 6 pages) or extended abstracts (2 pages), to be presented as posters. Submissions must be in PDF format (max 8 MB) following the IEEE Conference paper template (https://ras.papercept.net/conferences/support/tex.php). The submitted papers must be emailed to solar.icra23@gmail.com. All submissions will be peer-reviewed to assess their contribution and relevance to the workshop themes. Accepted submissions will be archived on the workshop website. We also welcome submissions that include material that is already published or under review in other venues. In this case, if accepted, manuscripts will not be published on the workshop website.
