the Third International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence methods for Smart Cities (AISC 2023) is organized in *online mode* by the Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Laboratory (aibd.unica.it) of the University of Cagliari (Italy), in conjunction with the University of Naples “Federico II” (Italy), as a part of the EUSPN-2023 International Conference to be held in Almaty (Kazakhstan), on November 7-9, 2023.

** Submission Guidelines ** 

All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Submitted papers must be formatted according to the guidelines of Procedia Computer Science, MS Word Template, Latex, Template Generic, Elsevier, and must be no longer than 6 pages, including all figures, tables and references. 

Authors are requested to submit their papers electronically using the online conference management system in PDF format before the deadline. 

The submission processes will be managed by easychair.org. If you have used this system before, you can use the same username and password. If this is your first time using EasyChair, you will need to register for an account by clicking the “I have no EasyChair account” button. Upon completion of registration, you will get a notification email from the system and you are ready for submitting your paper. You can upload and re-upload the paper to the system by the submission due date. 

The goal of AISC 2023 is to solicit and publish the latest advances and ideas, based on Machine/Deep Learning, heuristics and/or Computer Vision techniques, on topics which include, but are not limited to, the following: 

– Artificial Intelligence methods for Smart Cities;

– People/objects detection; 
– Fight recognition; 
– Gait analysis in uncontrolled scenarios; 
– Dangerous pedestrian crossing; 
– Background/Foreground segmentation in urban scenarios; 
– Vehicle/drone tracking; 
– Video-surveillance in Smart Cities; 
– Crowd analysis; 
– Lane Detection/Segmentation; 
– Traffic light management; 
– Smart Cities databases; 
– Car reidentification; 
– License Plate recognition; 
– Object Trajectory estimation/prediction; 
– Cloud-based approaches for traffic management; 
– IoT networks in Smart Cities; 
– Biometric identification; 
– Intelligent transportation systems.

– Paper submission deadline: June 15, 2023 
– Notification to authors: August 27, 2023 
– Camera-ready submission deadline: September 11, 2023 (firm!) 
– Workshop: November 7-9, 2023 

** Proceedings ** 

All AISC 2023 accepted papers will be included in the official EUSPN-2023 proceedings, published by Elsevier Science, in the open-access Procedia Computer Science series online. Procedia Computer Science is hosted by Elsevier (elsevier.com) and on Elsevier content platform ScienceDirect (sciencedirect.com), and will be freely available worldwide. 

All papers in Procedia will be indexed by Scopus, Google Scholar, Thomson Reuters' Conference Proceeding Citation Index, EI Compendex, and DBLP. The papers will contain linked references, XML versions and citable DOI numbers. You will be able to provide a hyperlink to all delegates and direct your conference website visitors to your proceedings. 

Highly relevant papers will be selected to submit an extension of their work in EUSPN-2023 and AISC 2023 dedicated Special Issues in top-tier international journals. 

** Registration **

** Venue ** 

The AISC 2023 workshop will be held *VIRTUALLY* (fully remote mode), in conjunction with the 14th International Conference on Emerging Ubiquitous Systems and Pervasive Networks (EUSPN-2023), in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on November 7-9, 2023. More details available on the EUSPN-2023 website (http://cs-conferences.acadiau.ca/euspn-23). 

The presentation of the accepted papers is going to be ONLINE only.
