I am a candidate for IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) President-Elect this year.
I am writing to introduce myself and would like to encourage you to vote if you still need to do so.
I have been a long-time IEEE volunteer. I have served as SPS’s inaugural Vice President – Membership (2013-16); IEEE Signal Processing Letters. Editor-in-Chief (2009-11); General Co-Chair of GlobalSIP’17, ICIP’18 and ICASSP’21; IEEE Toronto Section Chair; IEEE EAB-Continuing Education Chair; J.S. Kilby Medal Committee Chair.
I am a registered professional engineer, a Fellow of IEEE, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the Engineering Institute of Canada. I have been the Bell Canada Chair in Multimedia at the University of Toronto since 2014. I am currently the Chair of the Machine Intelligence Major at Engineering Science – University of Toronto. In 2016, I have co-founded Medical Cytometrixc Inc.
