REGISTRATION: ABSTRACT: Technology innovations over the years are being used to create engineering solutions at a veryrapid pace. This talk will provide a success story as an example to students charting out asuccessful career. I will articulate an example that benefits from the focus on data, which is being generated at an increasing rate. Some people characterize Data as the “new oil”. I willpostulate that Data by itself has limited Value. To create value from Data it must be positionedto solve one or more problems. At IEEE we have created solutions that leverage our Researchbased Data and create solutions. One such solution is an Artificial Intelligence/MachineLearning based combo Search and Knowledge engine that uses NLP (Natural LanguageProcessing) called “AskIEEE”. This is a platform that allows non-engineers, students as well asexperienced engineers to ask questions and get answers. The answer is based on EEEinformation that has been ingested into the engine. The second use case creates IEEE DataPort.This is a searchable repository of research Data. The Data can be linked to the author's IEEE publication and anyone can upload Datasets. The Datasets get screened for the metadata and Quality and are assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier). |
