# CVPR 2021 Workshop on Image Matching: Local Features and Beyond

We are pleased to announce the 3rd edition of the Image Matching
Workshop, co-located with CVPR 2021. Its goal is to encourage and
highlight novel strategies for image matching that deviate from and
advance traditional formulations, with a focus on large-scale,
wide-baseline matching for 3D reconstruction and pose estimation. This
can be achieved by applying new technologies to sparse feature matching,
or doing away with keypoints and descriptors entirely.

# TOPICS

Workshop topics include (but are not limited to):
• Formulations of keypoint extraction and matching pipelines with deep
networks.
• Application of geometric constraints into the training of deep networks.
• Leveraging additional cues such as semantics and mono-depth estimates.
• Methods addressing adversarial conditions where current methods fail
(weather changes, day versus night, etc.).
• Attention mechanisms to match salient image regions.
• Integration of differentiable components into 3D reconstruction
frameworks.
• Connecting local descriptors/image matching with global
descriptors/image retrieval.
• Matching across different data modalities such as aerial versus ground.
• Large-scale evaluation of classical and modern methods for image
matching, by means of our open challenge.
• New perception devices such as event-based cameras.
• Other topics related to image matching, structure from motion,
mapping, and re-localization, such as privacy-preserving representations.

# SUBMISSION

We invite paper submissions up to 8 pages, excluding references and
acknowledgements. They should use the CVPR template and be sent to the
IMW2020 CMT site. Submissions must contain novel work and will be
indexed in IEEE Xplore/CVF. They will receive at least two double-blind
reviews.

SI “Advanced Computer Vision Techniques for Autonomous Driving”

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Autonomous driving (AD) refers to self-driving vehicles or any transport system moves without humans. Automotive systems are equipped with cameras and sensors to cover all the fields of view and range. Further, sensor architecture in AD includes multiple sets of cameras, radars, and LIDARs, as well as GPS-GNSS for absolute localization and inertial measurement units that provide a 3D pose of the vehicle in space. Representation of the environment state or scene understanding is utilized by a decision-making system to produce the final driving policy, which can be achieved by a combination of several perception or computer vision tasks such as semantic segmentation, motion estimation, depth estimation, and soiling detection. Computer vision is as a key technique in AD technologies. Thus, there is a need to explore new and emerging trends in computer vision for autonomous driving. This Special Issue aims to address the most up-to-date impacts of computer vision on progress autonomous driving research. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • New trends on vision and sensors for autonomous driving;
  • Vision‐based traffic flow analysis and smart vehicle technologies;
  • Vehicle trajectory prediction in autonomous driving;
  • Vehicle classification and semantic segmentation;
  • Traffic sign detection, recognition, and scene understanding;
  • Detection, tracking, learning, and predicting on-road pedestrian behavior;

The International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference is a biennial forum that happens regularly since 1985, sponsored by the Brazilian Microwave and Optoelectronics Society (SBMO) and the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S). The event is organized by the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), Federal University of Ceará (UFC), and Federal Institute of Ceará (IFCe). The conference goal is providing an international and interdisciplinary forum for sharing experience and discussing the state-of-the-art of the following but not limited topics: radio/microwave, photonic/optics/applied electromagnetics and so on.

Due to Covid-19 Pandemic situation, for the first time since its creation, IMOC 2021 was turned into an online virtual conference. The organizing committee will make use of an online platform that intends to give participants the feeling and experience as if they were in Fortaleza, by means of using a 3D platform.

As an online conference, it is highly recommended to stimulate the participation of students, researchers, professionals, and partners, by making a high-level conference possible at reduced costs, including different inscriptions categories.

As a potential opportunity to overcome physical distances, but to forge closer professional boundaries and to change professional experiences, in this conference there will be a whole day dedicated to workshops and industry demonstration, as well as activities such as Young Professionals and Women in Microwave.

Furthermore, papers properly presented in the conference will be published at the IEEEXplore and those papers high scored will be invited to submit an extended version to peer reviewed journals, such as IET MAP, JMOe, WPT and others.
