Objective
**************
This workshop is dedicated to event-based cameras, smart cameras, and
algorithms processing data from these sensors. Event-based cameras are
bio-inspired sensors with the key advantages of microsecond temporal
resolution, low latency, very high dynamic range, and low power consumption.
Because of these advantages, event-based cameras open frontiers that
are unthinkable with standard frame-based cameras (which have been
the main sensing technology of the past 60 years). These revolutionary sensors
enable the design of a new class of algorithms to track a baseball in the moonlight,
build a flying robot with the agility of a fly, and perform structure from motion
in challenging lighting conditions and at remarkable speeds. These sensors
became commercially available in 2008 and are slowly being adopted in
computer vision and robotics. In recent years they have received attention
from large companies, e.g. the event-sensor company Prophesee collaborated
with Intel and Bosch on a high spatial resolution sensor, Samsung announced
mass production of a sensor to be used on hand-held devices, and they
have been used in various applications on neuromorphic chips such as
IBM’s TrueNorth and Intel’s Loihi. The workshop also considers novel vision sensors,
such as pixel processor arrays (PPAs), that perform massively parallel processing
near the image plane. Because early vision computations are carried out on-sensor,
the resulting systems have high speed and low-power consumption, enabling
new embedded vision applications in areas such as robotics, AR/VR, automotive,
gaming, surveillance, etc. This workshop will cover the sensing hardware,
as well as the processing and learning methods needed to take advantage
of the above-mentioned novel cameras.

Research papers and demos are solicited in, but not limited to, the topics listed above. Paper submissions must adhere to the CVPR 2021 paper submission style, format and length restrictions. See the author guidelines and template provided by the CVPR 2021 main conference. See also the policy of Dual/Double Submissions of concurrently-reviewed conferences, such as ICCV. Authors may want to limit the submission to four pages (excluding references) if that is their case.

A double blind peer-review process of the submissions received is carried out via CMT. Accepted papers will be published open access through the Computer Vision Foundation (CVF) (see examples from CVPR Workshop 2019). For the accepted papers we request that the authors write a paragraph about ethical considerations and impact of their work.

Many problems in AI (in reasoning, planning, learning, perception and robotics) require the agent to operate with incomplete or uncertain information. The objective of this track is to present and discuss a broad and diverse range of current work on uncertain reasoning, including theoretical and applied research based on different paradigms. We hope that the variety and richness of this track will help to promote cross fertilisation among the different approaches for uncertain reasoning, and in this way foster the development of new ideas and paradigms.

The Special Track on Uncertain Reasoning (UR) is the oldest track in FLAIRS conferences, running annually since 1996. The UR '21 Special Track at the 34th International Florida Artificial Intelligence Research Society Conference (FLAIRS-34) is the 26th in the series. Like the past tracks, UR'21 seeks to bring together researchers working on broad issues related to reasoning under uncertainty.

Papers on all aspects of uncertain reasoning are invited. Papers of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

– Uncertain reasoning formalisms, calculi and methodologies

– Reasoning with probability, possibility, fuzzy logic, belief function, vagueness, granularity, rough sets, and probability logics

– Modelling and reasoning using imprecise and indeterminate information, such as: Choquet capacities, comparative orderings, convex sets of measures, and interval-valued probabilities

– Exact, approximate and qualitative uncertain reasoning

– Inference and learning with graphical models of uncertainty (e.g., Bayesian networks)

All accepted papers will be published as FLAIRS proceedings by AAAI Press. A special issue of an international journal will be devoted to extended versions of the top papers at the track.

::: Submission :::

Interested authors should format their papers according to AAAI formatting guidelines. The papers should be original work (i.e., not submitted, in submission, or submitted to another conference while in review). Papers should not exceed 6 pages (4 pages for a poster) and are due by February 16, 2021.

For FLAIRS-34, the 2021 conference, the reviewing is a double-blind process. Author names and affiliations must be omitted on submitted papers to provide double-blind reviewing. The papers will be reviewed by at least three reviewers. Papers must be submitted as PDF through the EasyChair conference system, which can also be accessed through the main conference web site.

There are two kinds of submissions: full paper (up to 6 pages) to be presented by the author in a 20 minute oral presentation; short paper (up to 4 pages) to be presented in a poster session.

Authors should indicate the special track “Uncertain Reasoning” for submissions. The proceedings of FLAIRS-34 will be published by the AAAI. Authors of accepted papers will be required to sign a form transferring copyright of their contribution to AAAI. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register, attend, and present the paper at FLAIRS-34.

CLIC: 4th Workshop and Challenge on Learned Image Compression 2021

MOTIVATION
Our workshop aims to gather publications which will advance the field of image and video compression using machine learning and computer vision. We want to encourage the development of novel encoder/decoder architectures, novel ways to control information flow between the encoder and the decoder, new perceptual losses, and new ways to learn quantized representations.
At the workshop we will also present the winners of our annual compression challenge. Like the workshop, the challenge is designed to encourage the development of new learned codecs. But it is also an opportunity to evaluate and compare end-to-end trained approaches against classical approaches and every submission is welcome.
CHALLENGE (ongoing!)

There are three challenge tracks:

  1.  image compression track, images need to be compressed to 0.075 bpp, 0.15 bpp, and 0.3 bpp (bits per pixel).
  2.  video compression track, short video clips need to be compressed to around 1 Mbit/s.
  3.  perceptual metric track, human preferences on pairs of images will have to be predicted. The image pairs will come from the decoders submitted to the image compression track.
