Overview

========

Self-supervised learning is a promising direction that aims to learn representations from the data itself without explicit and potentially even manual supervision. One of the major benefits of self-supervised learning is the ability to scale to large amounts of unlabelled data in a lifelong learning manner and to improve performance by reducing the effect of dataset bias. Recent development in self-supervised learning has resulted in achieving comparable or better performance than fully-supervised models. However, many of these methods are developed in domain-specific communities such as robotics, computer vision or reinforcement learning. The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers from different communities to discuss opportunities, challenges and explore new directions.

Submission Instructions

We encourage participants to submit their research in the form of a single PDF. Submissions may be up to 4 pages in length, including figures, excluding references and any supplementary material. Please use the RSS conference template. Accepted papers will be presented in a poster session and selected awards papers as spotlight talks. All submitted contributions will go through a single blind review process. The contributed papers will be made available on the workshop’s website and selected papers will be invited for a special issue of a major robotics journal.

In order to make acceptance decisions early, we request interested researchers to submit a single page extended abstract by 19th April as an expression of interest. Over one-quarter of the global CO2 emissions are due to the transport sector, and among all means of transport, the road accounts for 74%. Solutions for reducing the emissions are vital for reaching the global climate target, set by the COP 21 Paris Agreement. However, road transportation is the backbone for most of the countries’ economy, and changes might influence on many other related sectors. It will require a lot of public effort in terms of establishing policies and providing financial assistance, passengers’ effort in terms of changing their mobility habits, and industry effort in terms of a complete update in their logistic process. Therefore, special attention is required for providing an integrated solution that leads to a sustainable and efficient road transport system whose ultimate goal is to improve passenger and trade mobility, strengthen cohesion and economy, and increase competitiveness while mitigating environmental, social and economic impacts. In this sense, any of these scenarios need to address difficult challenges which may potentially require the use of intelligent solutions and optimization strategies to achieve the expected goals.
The purpose of this special issue is to collect the main recent trends targeting the design of novel innovative solutions based on cutting-edge artificial intelligence tools, optimization strategies and relevant high-impact applications in sustainable road transportation and efficient logistics. High-quality research works covering these areas are welcome including but not limited to:
– Improvement of logistic processes;
– Innovative solutions to the growing mobility using ICT capabilities;
– Intelligent traffic management;
– Minimization of transport’s impact on climate and environment;
– Low-emission freight transport systems and logistics;
– Intelligent strategies for vehicle electrification;
– Efficient multimodal transport network;
– Intelligent zero-emissions strategies and spatial planning;
– Driving behaviour exploration;
– Resources management;
– Process optimization;
– Air pollution/Smart environment;
– Big data, data science and visual analytics;
– Green transportation;
All submitted papers related to the listed topics will be considered for publication in this special issue, provided they are recommended for publication after the review process.    In order to leverage synergy between various CS & CE fields, the program
   committees of ICAI and ACC conferences have their 2020 events held at
   one venue (same location and dates). This joint research event is
   composed of a number of tracks (joint-conferences, tutorials, sessions,
   workshops, poster and panel discussions); all will be held simultaneously,

   Type of Submissions/Papers:

     – Full/Regular Research Papers (maximum of 10 pages):
       Regular Research Papers should provide detail original research
       contributions. They must report new research results that
       represent a contribution to the field; sufficient details and
       support for the results and conclusions should also be provided.
       The work presented in regular papers are expected to be at a
       stage of maturity that with some additional work can be published
       as journal papers.

     – Short Research Papers (maximum of 6 pages):
       Short Research Papers report on ongoing research projects. They
       should provide overall research methodologies with some results.
       The work presented in short papers are expected to be at a stage
       of maturity that with some additional work can be published as
       regular papers.

     – Extended Abstract/Poster Papers (maximum of 3 pages):
       Poster papers report on ongoing research projects that are still
       in their infancy (i.e., at very early stages). Such papers tend
       to provide research methodologies without yet concrete results.

   Each paper will be peer-reviewed by two experts in the field for
   originality, significance, clarity, impact, and soundness. In cases
   of contradictory recommendations, a member of the conference program
   committee would be charged to make the final decision (accept/reject);
   often, this would involve seeking help from additional referees.
   Papers whose authors include a member of the conference program
   committee will be evaluated using the double-blinded review process.
   (Essay/philosophical papers will not be refereed but may be considered
   for discussion/panels).
