Fuzziness and Semantic Web Technologies”

We are organizing a special session on “Fuzziness and Semantic Web Technologies” to take place
at the IFSA-EUSFLAT 2015 conference, from June 30th to July 3rd 2015 in Gijón, Asturias (Spain).

The special session focuses on the current research trends in the area of theory and practical aspects of
intelligent systems equipped with fuzzy and other soft computing methods suitable for solving issues
specific to web utilization, as well as to representation and processing of information and knowledge
with special emphasis on fuzzy ontologies and their applications in various domains.

The topics of particular interest to the session include but are not limited to: multi-criteria decision-making,
approximate reasoning, case-based reasoning, fuzzy ontology and ontology-based systems,
knowledge- and rule-based systems, hybrid intelligent systems, recommendation systems,
context-aware systems, information retrieval and knowledge discovery, and search engines.

Unclassified Technical Program
The unclassified technical program provides a venue for papers and presentations that do not include
ITAR-sensitive, classified or proprietary information.
Restricted-Access Technical Program
The restricted-access technical program provides avenue for papers that contain ITAR-controlled or FOUO information. To attend and participate in the restricted access program, one must be a U.S. citizen. In addition, papers originated outside of U.S. will not be accepted in this program.
TUTORIALS AND PANELS
MILCOM 2015 also solicits proposals for unclassified half-day tutorials and one-to two- hour panels. Relevant topics include state-of-the-art communications and networking technologies, cyber, and innovative techniques applied to communication systems and acquisition strategies for joint imperative.

EWG ORD – IFORS  Workshop on OR for Development

Background

The EURO Working Group on Operational Research for Development (EWG
ORD)
(http://www.euro-online.org/web/ewg/29/or-for-development-ewg-ord)
aims to promote communication and collaboration among researchers
working in areas of operational research for development within and
outside of EURO. EWG ORD actively organized / co-organized workshops
or streams on operational research for development in all of: EURO
2006, EURO 2007, EURO 2008, IFORS 2008, EURO 2009, EURO 2010, IFORS
2011, EURO 2012, EURO 2013 and IFORS 2014. These activities had been
successful in promoting the importance of operational research and its
related techniques to improving living conditions in the developing
and developed countries.

Call for Participants

Operations Researchers who have done work in the area of OR for
Development are invited to participate. To qualify, participants are
required to submit a full paper on their work which have used
Operations Research to help decision-making process in the area of
education, health, and other basic services, water, technology,
resource use (physical or financial), infrastructure,
agricultural/industrialization, environmental sustainability that help
optimize development in view of constraints and limited resources. A
stress on developmental issues will be an important factor; papers of
a purely technical nature, or those that have no relevance in the
developmental context, will not be considered.

Participants who have taken part in previous ICORD/EWG Workshops and
those who have brought their work forward are encouraged to attend to
report on developments on their previously presented work.

Conference Format
The Workshop will feature presentations by the participants of their
papers. Paper reviewers will be assigned in advance. All participants
will be given all the papers of accepted participants in advance,
which will give them time to study the other papers. Ample time will
be given for a discussion of each of the papers presented. There will
also be plenary session/s for invited speakers.

Subsidised Conference Registration Fee
EURO 200, inclusive of materials, snacks & lunch

Support for Participants
A limited number of slots for registration support will be available,

10th Triennial Conference of the Association of Asia-Pacific Operational Research Societies (APORS 2015)

Management Science/Operations Research Society of Malaysia (MSORSM) is delighted to announce that the 10th Triennial Conference of the Association of Asia-Pacific Operational Research Societies (APORS 2015) will be held from 02 – 06 August 2015 in Kuching, in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. The Organising Committee is looking forward to welcome the delegates to the APORS 2015 Conference held for the first time in the state known as The Land of Hornbills. We are working towards preparing an attractive scientific programme with diverse topics to create a conducive environment suitable for encouraging and facilitating our delegates to share their knowledge and experience of OR. The conference aims to bring together members of the international OR community to discuss various aspects of OR with particular emphasis this time on the theme – OR and the Environment.


The venue of the conference, Kuching, is the perfect setting to highlight the chosen theme of the conference. Sarawak is the largest state of Malaysia with a land mass of almost 125,000 square kilometres. Hence it is no surprise that Sarawak is home to one of the oldest rainforests in the world, an epicentre of biodiversity. It houses some of the rarest flora and fauna ever discovered and sustains communities of indigenous people that still live in harmony with the land; preserving the practices of their forefathers which allow them to live off the land but not destroy the ecosystem that sustains it. These two facets of Kuching and her ways of balancing both its promising economy and her environmental treasure trove is an example of the potential positive impact OR has on operational issues for economic prosperity but still being able to preserve and protect the Environment; the two co-existing in perfect harmony.


As we march into the future, we find that the teachings of the old are kept and improved thus maintaining the delicate balance between all living things, very much like the fundamentals of OR. It is amazing that an interpretation of this is reflected in the Tree of Life, one such variation found within the living treasures of Sarawak.


The Organising Committee is looking forward to play host to all members of the OR at the APORS 2015 Conference. It is our hope that you will join us and learn, enjoy, and most importantly be a part of the APORS 2015 Conference. Organise a session, give a talk and remember to experience this great city.
