Management Science/Operations Research Society of Malaysia (MSORSM) is delighted to announce that the 10th Triennial Conference of the Association of Asia-Pacific Operational Research Societies (APORS 2015) will be held from 02 – 06 August 2015 in Kuching, in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. The Organising Committee is looking forward to welcome the delegates to the APORS 2015 Conference held for the first time in the state known as The Land of Hornbills. We are working towards preparing an attractive scientific programme with diverse topics to create a conducive environment suitable for encouraging and facilitating our delegates to share their knowledge and experience of OR. The conference aims to bring together members of the international OR community to discuss various aspects of OR with particular emphasis this time on the theme – OR and the Environment.


The venue of the conference, Kuching, is the perfect setting to highlight the chosen theme of the conference. Sarawak is the largest state of Malaysia with a land mass of almost 125,000 square kilometres. Hence it is no surprise that Sarawak is home to one of the oldest rainforests in the world, an epicentre of biodiversity. It houses some of the rarest flora and fauna ever discovered and sustains communities of indigenous people that still live in harmony with the land; preserving the practices of their forefathers which allow them to live off the land but not destroy the ecosystem that sustains it. These two facets of Kuching and her ways of balancing both its promising economy and her environmental treasure trove is an example of the potential positive impact OR has on operational issues for economic prosperity but still being able to preserve and protect the Environment; the two co-existing in perfect harmony.


As we march into the future, we find that the teachings of the old are kept and improved thus maintaining the delicate balance between all living things, very much like the fundamentals of OR. It is amazing that an interpretation of this is reflected in the Tree of Life, one such variation found within the living treasures of Sarawak.


The Organising Committee is looking forward to play host to all members of the OR at the APORS 2015 Conference. It is our hope that you will join us and learn, enjoy, and most importantly be a part of the APORS 2015 Conference. Organise a session, give a talk and remember to experience this great city.

*Scope & Symposium Format*

ISIPTA is the primary international forum to present and discuss new results related to imprecise probability.

We welcome both theoretical and applied original contributions. In this edition, we especially welcome papers connecting imprecise probabilities with related research in fields such as economics, philosophy, sociology, and engineering. There will be no parallel sessions. Each paper that is accepted is presented both
(i) in a plenary session, meant for a short introduction and a sketch of the context and relevance; and
(ii) in a poster session, where ample time is given for in-depth explanation and discussion.

The poster-only track provides a second, free format presentation option. It is also open for preliminary results, challenges, etc.

*New: non-proceedings papers*

To adapt to different publication cultures in different fields, we introduce a new option: the non-proceeding papers. Authors may request that their contribution is not published in the proceedings in case this precludes later publication of an expanded journal version. The PC Board will decide on a case-by-case basis. If accepted, a one-page abstract will be published in the proceedings, and the paper must be freely available on-line (e.g., as a working paper).

ECSQARU 2015 CALL for Special Sessions

Thirteenth European Conference on Symbolic and Quantitative Approaches to Reasoning with Uncertainty

Proposal Deadline: 1st December

We invite proposals of special sessions for the next ECSQARU 2015, to be held during the conference. These special sessions can aim at fundamental, theoretical or practical issues regarding reasoning under uncertainty, in symbolic and quantitative settings.

INSTRUCTIONS

Submission of proposals should include:

* the session title,
* a short description of the session and its main topics,
* the session relevance to the ECSQARU conference,
* a list of organizers (at least 2),
* a list of potential submissions (if possible).

Each special session should contain at least four papers. Those having fewer than four accepted papers will potentially be canceled, with accepted papers moved either to regular sessions or, if appropriate, to related special sessions.
The upper limit for papers authored by each organizer will be 25% (rounded up) of the overall number of accepted papers in the session.

Proposals should be sent to ecsqaru2015@hds.utc.fr before the 1st December 2014

EVALUATION OF PROPOSALS

Special session proposals will be evaluated based on the timeliness, uniqueness of the topic and qualifications of the proposers. The proposers are expected to have a PhD degree and have a good publication track record in the proposed area. After review, a decision on whether the proposal will be accepted will be sent to the proposers. However, it is possible that an accepted proposal will be combined with another one to avoid multiple special sessions covering a similar topic. Accepted special sessions will be listed on the conference website. A final decision will be made two weeks after the submission deadline.

SUBMISSION AND REVIEWS FOR SPECIAL SESSION PAPERS

Manuscripts intended for special sessions should be submitted through the general paper submission website as regular submissions. During submission, authors submitting to special sessions should check the corresponding category. Papers submitted to special sessions will undergo the same review and decision process as regular papers.
Organizers will be consulted to propose potential reviewers.

IMPORTANT DATES

Special sessions proposals should be submitted before the 1st december 2014. Submission and decision dates are the same as regular submissions.

Joint ORSC/EURO International Conference 2015 on Continuous Optimization

Shanghai, China, May 10-12, 2015

Overview

Continuous optimization is a highly interconnected field, having close
relationships to the other areas of OR, with scientific computing and
numerical analysis, and with numerous application areas. In order to
promote academic communication and cooperation between Chinese and
European researchers and practitioners in the field of continuous
optimization, Operations Research Society of China (ORSC) and the
Association of European Operational Research Societies (EURO) will
organize the Joint ORSC/EURO International Conference 2015 on
Continuous Optimization during May 10-12, 2015. Dr. Xiaodong Hu (the
President of ORSC) and Dr. Gerhard Wäscher (President of EURO) are
co-chairs of the conference, Dr. Yuhong Dai (President of the Math
Programming Subsociety of ORSC) and Dr. Julius Zilinskas (Chair of
EUROPT Managing Board) are the co-chairs of program committee and Dr.
Yanqin Bai (Shanghai University, Shanghai) and Dr. Gerhard-Wilhelm
Weber (Middle East Technical University, Ankara) are the co-chairs of
organization committee.

Full papers could be submitted after the conference to the special
issue of Journal of the Operations Research Society of China to be
published by the end of 2015.
