Uncertainty, imprecision and inconsistency in data sets have been studied for several years in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Representation and Databases. The availability of vast amounts of information nowadays makes the need for formalisms, algorithms and tools for managing uncertainty even more compelling. The Scalable Uncertainty Management (SUM) series, commenced in 2007, brings together researchers from the Artificial Intelligence and Database communities, with a special focus on problems and applications dealing with uncertainty and requiring efficient, and especially scalable, data processing.

The 2014 edition of SUM will take place in St. Anne’s College, Oxford, UK, from the 15th to the 17th of September.
