SDM 2014: Call for Doctoral Forum Participants and Student Travel Scholarship Applications
January 10th, 2014 Daniela Lopez de Luise The SIAM Conference on Data Mining (SDM 2014) that is taking place in Philadelphia, PA, April 24–26, 2014 is inviting Ph.D. students to apply to present their work at the SDM 2014 Doctoral Student Forum. We are also pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of student travel scholarships to cover the registration and travel expenses for students participating in SDM 2014 either as authors of papers that have been accepted for presentation at SDM 2014 or as presenters in the SDM Doctoral Forum.
Completed applications for both Doctoral Forum and Travel Scholarships must be received by January 22, 2014 to ensure full consideration. Application documents should be sent by email to vucetic@temple.edu. Selected applicants will be notified by February 28, 2014. For the travel scholarships, local students who live within 30 miles of the conference venue can receive only registration expenses.

Students who seek travel funds to present their work in the Doctoral Forum must send this application. Students (preferably the authors of an accepted paper in SDM 2014) who want travel funds, but do not plan to present in the doctoral forum, can apply either to the SIAM call or the Doctoral Forum and Travel Scholarship call above. All requests for travel funds to either call will be considered and awards made based on the funding available.

The International Workshop on Computational Energy Management in Smart Grids (CEMiSG 2014) will be held on July 6th, 2014 in Beijing, China as inside the 2014 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI 2014).
The Workshop is oriented to explore the new frontiers and challenges within the Computational Intelligence research area, including in particular Neural Networks, Evolutionary Computation and Soft Computing based solutions, for the optimal usage and management of energy resources in Smart Grid applicative scenarios. The Workshop will be a proficient discussion table within the WCCI conference, which attracts the most famous researchers in the Computational Intelligence field worldwide.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Prospective authors are invited to submit papers according to the IEEE format. All submissions should be according to the specifications of the IEEE WCCI 2014. Manuscripts will be submitted through the IEEE WCCI 2014 paper submission website and will be subject to the same peer-review review procedure as the IEEE WCCI2014 regular papers. Accepted contributions will be part of the IJCNN conference proceedings, which will be available in IEEE Xplore. A Special Issue of the Neurocomputing journal (IF: 1.634) is also foreseen.
