I am pleased to announce that the Journal of Imaging (IF 3.2) has opened a new special issue titled “Artificial Intelligence for Visual Perception and Artificial Consciousness”. 

The Special Issue aims to gather contributions in the form of research and review articles encompassing the multidisciplinary topics involved in artificial intelligence for visual perception and artificial consciousness.

IEEE WCCI 2024 is the world’s largest technical event on computational intelligence, featuring the three flagship conferences of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) under one roof: The International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), the IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE) and the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (IEEE CEC).

IEEE WCCI 2024 will be held in Yokohama, Japan. Yokohama is a city that inspires academic fusion and multidisciplinary & industrial association. IEEE WCCI 2024 solicits proposals for special sessions within the technical scope of the three conferences. Special sessions, to be organized by internationally recognized experts, aim to bring together researchers in special focused topics. Cross-fertilization of the three technical disciplines and newly emerging research areas are strongly encouraged. We cordially invite you to submit your original contributions to IWCIM 2024 – the 12th International Workshop on Computational Intelligence for Multimedia Understanding (IWCIM), which will take place as a satellite workshop to IEEE ISCAS 2024, to be held in Singapore on May 19-22, 2024.

IWCIM 2024 is the annual workshop organized by the working group Multimedia Understanding through Semantics, Computation and Learning (MUSCLE) of the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM).
Multimedia understanding is an important part of many intelligent applications in our social life, whether in our households or in commercial, industrial, service, and scientific environments. Analyzing raw data to provide them with semantics is essential to exploit their full potential and help us manage our everyday tasks. Nowadays, raw data normally come from a host of different sensors and other sources and are different in nature, format, reliability and information content. Multimodal and cross-modal analysis are the only ways to use them at their best. Besides data analysis, this problem is also relevant to data description intended to help storage and mining. Interoperability and exchangeability of heterogeneous and distributed data is a need for any practical application. Semantics is information at the highest level, and inferring it from raw data (that is, from information at the lowest level) entails exploiting both data and prior information to extract structure and meaning. Computation, machine learning, statistical and Bayesian methods are tools to achieve this goal at various levels.

PUBLICATION:
All the papers accepted for the workshop will be included in ISCAS conference proceedings published in IEEExplore.

SUBMISSION:
All contributions should be original and not published elsewhere or intended to be published during the review period. 
Authors who wish to participate in the conference will create documents consisting of a complete description of their ideas and applicable research results in a maximum of 4 pages for technical content, including figures and possible references, and with one additional optional 5th page containing only references.
