We are pleased to invite you to submit your original contributions to AgriAI'24 – the 2nd International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture,
which will take place as a satellite workshop to IEEE FedCSIS 2024, to be held in Belgrade, Serbia, on 8–11 September, 2024.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly used in agriculture for a variety of uses, from plant disease detection to weeding automation, soil status monitoring, crop prediction, irrigation management, and decreased use of resources for improving quality and productivity. This workshop welcomes contributions related to a wide variety of interdisciplinary research and applications related to artificial intelligence in agriculture. AI can, in fact, provide highly positive effects on precision agriculture by optimizing, automating and forecasting several aspects of farming and revolutionizing the sector, providing helpful information and driving decisions using multiple sources of data and different sensors.

Moreover, in the climate change era, AI can improve sustainability by optimizing the use of resources such as water and soil management. We welcome innovative contributions, early results and position papers addressing one or more of the topics listed below and intend to foster informal discussions and bring together researchers, practitioners and industry experts to explore the challenges and opportunities of AI and Agriculture. We look forward to receiving your submissions and seeing you at the workshop!

Submission rules

  • Authors should submit their papers as Postscript, PDF or MSWord files.
  • The total length of a paper should not exceed 12 pages  IEEE style (including tables, figures and references). IEEE style templates are available at https://2024.fedcsis.org/for_authors/instructions
  • Papers will be refereed and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit and relevance to the Topical Area.
  • Preprints containing accepted papers will be published online.
  • Only papers presented at the conference will be published in Conference Proceedings and submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore® database.
  • Conference proceedings will be published in a volume with ISBN, ISSN and DOI numbers and posted at the conference WWW site.
  • Conference proceedings will be submitted for indexation according to information at https://2024.fedcsis.org/for_authors/indexation

Special Issue on “Application of Artificial Intelligence Methods in Processing of Emotions, Decisions and Opinions”

Special Issue Information

During recent years, social infrastructure has become irreversibly linked to the Internet through its everyday manifestations, such as social networking services (Twitter, Facebook, etc.). Every second this new tangible information-based reality provides large amounts of data filled with 1) emotional expressions; 2) people's opinions on various topics; and 3) their reasoning, revealing their decision-making processes. As these three categories are also closely interrelated with each other, they should be studied together to obtain a more robust view on all of the topics involved. This, as never before, provides an opportunity for the development and application of natural language processing methods, in particular those regarding such topics as emotion processing, decision-making, and opinion mining.

For this issue, we invite high-quality papers from researchers with an interest in knowing more about those topics and their connection to the world we live in through opinion and sentiment analysis, recommendation systems, web mining, automated decision-making, etc. We also invite papers on the topic of using Natural Language Processing tools and methods to process emotions, metaphors, ethics, or other phenomena related to human activities.

We are pleased to announce a call for papers and the extension of the deadline for the special issue – “NeuroDesign in Human-Robot Interaction: The making of engaging HRI technology your brain can’t resist”. This special issue will be published in the research topic of the journal – Frontiers in Robotics and AI and Frontiers in Neurorobotics. In this special issue, we will discuss the fascinating Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) research with the interfacing of applied neuroscience, psychology and design methodologies.

Scope of submissions: 

The complex tapestry of human biology, consciousness, and cognition presents a unique challenge for technology designed to interact with us. This complexity demands a multidisciplinary approach that leverages insights from neuroscience, behavioral psychology, cognitive science, and artificial intelligence to address the barriers that currently hinder natural and effective human-robot interaction.

This special issue aims to bridge the gap between laboratory research and practical applications, guiding the development of HRI strategies that are not only technically proficient but also intuitive, engaging, and cognitively harmonious with human operators.

Topics:

We invite original research, review articles, and perspective pieces that contribute to the following non-exhaustive list of topics:

1. Neuroscience-Driven HRI Strategies:

   – Use of neuroimaging tools (fMRI, EEG, fNIRS) to decode brain activities that can enhance HRI.

   – Translational neuroscience methods to inform and refine HRI design.

2. Iterative Development and Brain-Centric Interfaces:

   – Insights from iterative design processes to craft improved human, brain, and robot interfaces.

   – Integration of human and robot in a symbiotic closed-loop system through innovative I/O interfaces.

3. Invasive and Non-Invasive NeuroDesign Applications:

   – Development of smart wearables, exoskeletons, or implantable devices monitoring brainwaves and physiological signals.

   – Design of interfaces to track and influence mechanical movements in tandem with human motion.

4. Neurofeedback Devices for Emotional and Behavioral Regulation:

   – Application of devices such as tDCS, tMS, NMES for neural or muscular stimulation.

   – Exploration of neurofeedback's role in modulating emotional and behavioral states in HRI contexts.

5. AI and Machine Learning in NeuroDesign:

   – Co-design of hardware and software integrating AI to enhance the user experience.

   – Implementation of machine learning algorithms for a brain-centered approach in perception and cognition.
