IEEE NorCAS 2023 Call for Papers (etc.)

The 2023 IEEE Nordic Circuits and Systems Conference (NorCAS) will take place in

Aalborg, Denmark on October 31 – November 1, 2023. The conference is co-sponsored

by the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society and Tampere University, and the accepted and

presented papers will be submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore database.

In addition to the regular tracks of Analog, Digital, and System-on-Chip papers, we

have this year special sessions on:

  • Approximate Computing Circuits and Systems
  • Circuits and Systems in AI and Neuromorphic Computing
  • Digital Design and Verification using Chisel
  • Materials and Devices for Future Circuits and Systems

Special Session papers will undergo similar reviews as any other papers submitted to the

conference, and presented papers will also be submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore database.

The submission deadline for all papers is August 15, 2023. The papers shall be submitted

via the https://www.conftool.pro/norcas2023/ submission site.

We will also host half-day tutorials at 13-17 on Monday October 30, on the following topics:

  • Design of Integrated Power Amplifiers for Mobile Communication Systems
  • Network on Chip (NoC)-based Deep Neural Network Design Framework: From Algorithms to Architectures
  • Advanced Topics in 5G Networks Across Industry and Cross border Corridors

For more details on IEEE NorCAS 2023, see https://events.tuni.fi/norcas2023. Participant registration to

the event will open in August, a link for that will be provided on the website.

Regards,

*** Call for papers

Biometrics and forensics are two fields that can benefit from each other in several ways. Biometric technologies can aid forensic investigations by providing reliable identification of individuals involved in criminal activities, which can help link suspects to crimes. On the other hand, forensic science can contribute to the development of biometric technologies by providing insights into the unique physiological and behavioural characteristics that can be used for identification. Additionally, forensic science can also provide valuable insights into the accuracy and reliability of biometric technologies, which can aid in their improvement. The aim of this special session is thus to facilitate synergies and bring together researchers working on the areas of forensic science and biometrics. Topics of interest of this special session include (but are not limited to):

  • Biometric analysis of crime scenes
  • Biometric-based cybercrime investigation
  • Attacks to biometric systems
  • Mobile, behavioural and soft-biometrics
  • Biometric data anonymization/de-identification
  • Multimedia Forensics
  • Deep fakes detection
  • Surveillance
  • Multi-biometrics
  • Explainable AI for Biometrics and Forensics
  • Ethical, societal or privacy implications
  • Case studies of the aforementioned topics

*** Paper formatting and submission

Paper submitted to the special session should follow the same instructions and templates provided for the main conference submissions, posted here:

https://wifs2023.fau.de/submission.html

Paper submissions can be up to 6 double-column pages including references.

Advanced Machine Learning – Livestream Seminar

Statistical Horizons presents Advanced Machine Learning, a 4-day seminar taught by Ricardo Vilalta on July 18-21.
This course is ideal for anyone who already has good background knowledge in machine learning and is looking for additional topics to gain more expertise in the field, particularly when it comes to applications in the real world. By the end of the seminar, you will have a solid understanding of how to build computer systems that learn from experience.
You will gain the skills to:

  • Pre-process, augment, and cleanse data.
  • Find patterns in data used to build predictive models.
  • Report and interpret a variety of results using different performance metrics.
  • Vary model complexity to maximize performance.
This 4-day livestream seminar will be held via Zoom, but you can also join asynchronously by viewing the recorded videos of each session.
Please share this information with anyone who may be interested. Email ashley@statisticalhorizons.com with any questions.

Thanks,
Ashley
