Call for paper IJCB 2023 – Special Session on Recent Advances in Detecting Manipulation Attacks on Biometric Systems (ADMA-2023)

Recent Advances in Detecting Manipulation Attacks on Biometric Systems (ADMA-2023) IJCB 2023 – Special Session

Manipulated attacks in biometrics via modified images/videos and other material-based techniques such as presentation attacks and deep fakes have become a tremendous threat to the security world owing to increasingly realistic spoofing methods. Hence, such manipulations have triggered the need for research attention towards robust and reliable methods for detecting biometric manipulation attacks. The recent inclusion of manipulation/generation methods such as auto-encoder and generative adversarial network approaches combined with accurate localisation and perceptual learning objectives added an extra challenge to such manipulation detection tasks. Due to this, the performance of existing state-of-the-art manipulation detection methods significantly degrades in unknown scenarios. Apart from this, real-time processing, manipulation on low-quality medium, limited availability of data, and inclusion of these manipulation detection techniques for forensic investigation are yet to be widely explored. Hence, this special session aims to profile recent developments and push the border of the digital manipulation detection technique on biometric systems.

We invite practitioners, researchers and engineers from biometrics, signal processing, material science, mathematics, computer vision and machine learning to contribute their expertise to underpin the highlighted challenges. Further, this special session promotes cross-disciplinary research by inviting the partitioner in the field of psychology where one can perform the human observer (or super-recogniser) analysis to detect attacks.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

             Deepfake manipulation and detection technique

             Novel generalised PAD to unknown attacks

             Image manipulation techniques datasets

             Database in image and video manipulation, and attacks

             Privacy-preserving techniques in digital manipulation attack detection

             Image and video synthesis in PAD

             Image and video manipulation generation and detection

             Human observer analysis in detecting the manipulated biometric images

             Novel sensors for detecting manipulated attacks

             Bias analyses and mitigation in attack detection algorithms

Submission Guidelines:

             Submit your papers at: https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/IJCB2023 in a special session track.

             The paper presented at ADMA-2023 will be published as part of the IJCB2023 and should, therefore, follow the same guideline as the main conference.

             Page limit: A paper can be up to 8 pages including figures and tables, plus additional pages for references only.

             Papers will be double-blind peer-reviewed by at least three reviewers. Please remove author names, affiliations, email addresses, etc. from the paper. Remove personal acknowledgements.

Important Dates:

             Full Paper Submission: July 17, 2023, 23:59:59 PDT

             Acceptance Notice: August 17, 2023, 23:59:59 PDT

AIM AND SCOPE

FAPER 2023: 3rd International Workshop on Fine Art Pattern Extraction and Recognition @ ICIAP 2023

_________________________________________________________________________
3rd International Workshop on Fine Art Pattern Extraction and Recognition *F A P E R* 2023 Udine, Italy, September 11, 2023 _________________________________________________________________________ in conjunction with the 22st International Conference on Image Analysis and Processing (ICIAP 2023) https://sites.google.com/view/faper2023
*submission deadline*: June 23, 2023
*Aim & Scope* Cultural heritage, especially fine arts, plays an invaluable role in our societies’ cultural, historical, and economic growth. Fine arts are primarily developed for aesthetic purposes and are mainly expressed through painting, sculpture, and architecture. In recent years, thanks to technological improvements and drastic cost reductions, a large-scale digitization effort has been made, which has led to the increasing availability of large digitized fine art collections. This availability, coupled with recent advances in computer vision, has disclosed new opportunities, especially for researchers in this field, to assist the art community with automatic tools to analyze and better understand fine arts. Among other benefits, a deeper understanding of fine arts has the potential to make them more accessible to a broader population, both in terms of fruition and creation, thus supporting the spread of culture. Following the success of the first two editions (2021, 2022), the workshop aims to provide an international forum for those wishing to present advancements in state-of-the-art, innovative research, ongoing projects, and academic and industrial reports on applying visual pattern extraction and recognition for a better understanding and fruition of fine arts. The workshop solicits contributions from computer vision and pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, and image processing.
*Topics* Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: – Computer vision and multimedia data processing for fine arts – Creative AI – 3D reconstruction of historical artifacts – Point cloud segmentation and classification for cultural heritage – Content-based retrieval in the art domain – Smart interactive experiences in cultural sites – Visual question answering and artwork captioning – Art history and computer vision – Projects, products, or prototypes for cultural heritage restoration, preservation, and fruition
*Workshop modality* The workshop will be held in presence.
*Submission guidelines* All submissions will be handled electronically through CMT via a link that will be shared soon. For the preparation of the paper, please follow the guidelines provided by Springer. The maximum number of pages is 12, including references. Papers will be selected through a double-blind review process, considering originality, significance, clarity, soundness, relevance, and technical content. Once accepted, at least one author is expected to attend the event and give an oral presentation of the paper. Accepted papers will be included in the Proceedings of ICIAP 2023, which Springer will publish as Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS).
*Important Dates*– Workshop submission deadline: June 23, 2023 – Author notification: July 21, 2023 – Camera-ready submission: July 31, 2023 – Registration: TBA – Workshop date: TBA
