ViDiScript. Visual Processing of Digital Manuscripts: Workflows, Pipelines, Best Practices

workshop co-located with 2023 International Conference on Image Analysis and Processing (ICIAP 2023)
 
 
The workshop aims at collecting and connecting the most recent applications of Computer Vision to Historical Handwritten Documents Processing in its broader sense.
Many initiatives have focused on one dimension of the problem, such as layout analysis, image binarization, transcription or material aspects of the manufact. We would like to organise an event on the full historical document processing workflow and pipeline, connecting the multiple dimensions of the analysis of the manuscript document, in its material and codicological, as well as textual, paratextual and palaeographical aspects. We are also interested to the possibilities offered by Computer Vision tools for the preservation and analysis of ancient and medieval documents, which should be part of the workflow.
 
The workshop calls for submissions is addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:
 
·      Handwritten Text Recognition of historical documents
·      Layout Analysis for historical documents
·      Writer Identification in manuscript documents
·      Historical Documents processing workflow
·      Few-shot learning approaches for HTR and Layout Analysis
·      Computer Vision and Digital Codicology
·      3D reconstruction, visualisation and modeling for Historical Documents
·      Multispectral imaging for analyzing Historical Documents
·      Digital Preservation
 
Submission and review
 
Participants can choose between two formats:
 
1. Full paper (max. 10 + 2 pages for references): accepted submissions will be presented at the workshop, and published in the ICIAP 2023 Workshops volume, edited by Springer.
 
2. Abstract and short presentation (1-4 pages) of ongoing projects presenting workflows for preliminary, mid-term or pilot projects are welcome, although they cannot be published in the conference proceedings.

The IEEE ICCI*CC series (https://www.i2cicc.org/ieee-iccicc-seriesis a flagship conference of its field sponsored by IEEE CS, CIS, and SMC. Following the previous 21 successful conferences on Cognitive Informatics and Cognitive Computing (ICCI’02 through ICCI*CC’22), the 22nd IEEE Int’l Conference on Cognitive Informatics and Cognitive Computing (ICCI*CC’23, hybrids) focuses on themes of Autonomous AI, Cognitive Computers, Cognitive Machine Learning, Intelligent Computing, Autonomous Systems, and Cognitive Robots. ICCICC’23 welcomes researchers, practitioners, and graduate students to join the international initiative on cognitive informatics and cognitive computing toward the investigation of cognitive mechanisms and processes of human intelligence generation, brain-inspired systems, and the development of the next generation of cognitive computers and autonomous AI.

Research papers or special workshop/session proposals for IEEE ICCI*CC'23 are welcome. The paper submission site is at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ieeeiccicc2023. Proceedings of ICCI*CC'23 will be published by IEEE CS Press (indexed by EI, Google Scholar, etc.). Selected papers will be recommended to be published in SCI and EI indexed transactions and journals such as IEEE SMC-Letters and Frontiers in Computer Science (FCS). 


Full papers are expected to be around 6-8 pages in IEEE double column format. Short papers (4-5 pages) that report industrial experience, case studies, work in progress, or graduate students’ research are welcome.

El ARSAT-SG1, será el tercer satélite de la flota geoestacionaria de la empresa ARSAT. De propulsión eléctrica, brindará banda ancha satelital Ka y estará dotado con la última tecnología para brindar conectividad a cualquier punto del país y países limítrofes.

El proyecto, llevado adelante por ARSAT, junto a INVAP y en alianza estratégica con la empresa Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) implica diversos desafíos de ingeniería, que serán presentados y discutidos en este encuentro, junto al Ing. Juan Aurelio, jefe de Operaciones Satelitales de ARSAT.

About

ICIAP 2023 is the 22nd edition of a biennial series of conferences by CVPL, the Italian Member Society of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). The conference focuses on classic and recent trends in computer vision, pattern recognition, and image processing and covers theoretical and applicative aspects. The event is hosted by the University of Udine, located in the downtown center of Udine. Udine is located in Friuli Venezia Giulia region, in the North East of Italy. Udine is about 140 km from Venice and 80 km from Trieste.

The 1st Workshop on Federated Learning (FL) in Medical Imaging and Vision aims to bring together researchers and practitioners with a common interest in FL for visual tasks, focusing on medical imaging, to address this research area's open questions and challenges.

Topics

The workshop aims to attract novel and original contributions exploring federated and collaborative learning with its challenges and peculiarities. Expected submissions should cover, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Novel approaches of Federated, Distributed, and Collaborative Learning in medical imaging applications
  • Topologies: Server-centric, peer-to-peer, cyclic, swarm learning, etc.
