The aim of this Special Issue is to present original research and critical reviews on state-of-the-art
deep learning methodologies for medical image classification and segmentation, with the purpose of
offering actionable guidelines for integrating AI into clinical workflows. This Special Issue focuses on
technical and practical issues in diagnostic imaging related to multimodal data fusion and limited
supervision, aiming to advance this critical medico-engineering field, with a particular emphasis on
topics which tackle inter-patient variability and real-world data heterogeneity.
