Extension of deadline (ISMSI21, Seychelles, Victoria)

Dear colleagues,

This is about  2021 5th International Conference on Intelligent Systems, Metaheuristics & Intelligent Systems  (ISMSI21).   The conference is slated to be held in Victoria, Seychelles during April 10-11, 2021 http://ismsi.org/
However,  in case the prevailing global pandemic situation does not improve, the same may be held as a full-fledged virtual conference, as was for ISMSI20.   

EURO ( The Association of European Operational Research Societies) /its spl. interest group on Metaheuristics being the technical sponsors of the ISMSI21.

Due to the prevailing situation, and based on the requests from our peers we have extended the submission deadline.

Proceedings
As in the previous 4 editions, the proceedings of  ISMSI21 will be published by ICPS of ACM and published papers will be indexed by Ei Compendex & Scopus.
Apart from the scope there is scope for a selected & subset of papers, after being extended, to be considered for publication at a special issue of the NCAA journal  (a Springer publication with 2019 Impact Factor  & 5 year Impact Factor of 4.774 & 4.627 respectively)  https://www.springer.com/journal/521).
Some papers may also be considered for EJOR, an Elsevier Publication ( 2019 Impact Factor  & 5 year Impact Factor of 4.213 & 4.729 respectively) https://www.journals.elsevier.com/european-journal-of-operational-research

Call for applicants: Erasmus+ Joint Master Degree “Computational Color and Spectral Imaging (COSI)” – 2021-23 edition

 

The European higher education excellence meeting worldwide colour markets.

We are pleased to announce the call for applicants Erasmus+ JMD “Computational Color and Spectral Imaging (COSI)“ master programme (https://cosi-master.eu/). The 2-year Master Programme (120 ECTS) COSI aims to develop interdisciplinary trained experts in sectors encompassing intelligent image processing, colour, spectral and digital imaging in applied science and in applications development and analysis. The objective is to educate students in advanced methodologies, applied models and practical applications with 2 goals: enhance the employability and improve career prospects of graduates on one hand and meet the needs of industrials on the other hand.

How to finance your Master degree?: the JMD scholarship programme offers talented prospective students the unique opportunity to pursue a degree in COSI master programme and up to 45,000 Eur for the entire duration (24 months) of COSI programme (full details in https://cosi-master.eu/scholarship-overview/).

The deadline for the COSI student “scholarships” is January 10th  2021.

Scholars can also apply to contribute to the COSI program.

 

Awarded degrees: successful completion of the COSI Joint Master Degree will result in the award of multiple Master degrees (i.e. 4 national diplomas issued by 4 higher education institutions from 4 European countries and fully recognized in these respective countries). 

 

Entry requirements / Eligibility criteria: applicants must hold a bachelor of science (or any nationally recognized first cycle degree equivalent to 180 ECTS), preferably in the fields of technology, engineering, computer science, physics or mathematics.

 

Language requirements:  the tuition language is English. COSI students are notably expected to produce a Master Thesis in English. A strong command of written and oral English is therefore requested. Applicants will have to demonstrate during application an English language proficiency equivalent to level B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

we are creating a new center on artificial intelligence in Wuerzburg, Germany

Are you excited about deep learning? Do you want to apply and develop deep learning methods to high dimensional neuroimaging data and make new discoveries which could advance our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease? We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow who is willing to research more deep and transfer learning methods in large cohort based studies.

Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias are heterogeneous conditions, which makes differentiating between them and their subtypes very challenging. Our goal is to use neuroimaging data and deep learning to help uncover and detect specific pathologies and patterns emerging in early Alzheimer’s disease. In this position your challenge will be to develop new deep learning architectures and algorithms that allow current pathology detection and prediction of possible future disease trajectories.

Your work environment will be the Neuroimage Analytics Laboratory (NAL, https://www.nallab.org) and the Biggs Institute Neuroimaging Core (BINC). We build advanced neuroimage analytical techniques to derive discovery. Data-driven approaches are of special interest in our lab, as machine learning and machine intelligence will guide the scientist towards the finding. On broader goal, our tools help delivering precise diagnostics on an individual’s level and ultimately could guide treatment progress.

We are part of the Biggs Institute (https://biggsinstitute.org), which is being established as a flagship, free-standing institute within University of Texas Health San Antonio (UTHSA), with the mission of establishing an interdisciplinary, integrated program to provide comprehensive clinical care and undertake innovative and important research into the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease and other neurodegenerative conditions, including vascular contributions to dementia, Parkinson’s disease and frontotemporal dementia. It has strong institutional and community support and will benefit from existing resources within UTHSA such as the Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, the Center for Biomedical Neuroscience, the School of Nursing, the Cancer Center, and the Research Imaging Institute along with the San Antonio campus of the UT Health Houston School of Public Health.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and validate novel architectures and algorithms for deep learning with neuroimaging data

• Apply your validated methods to large scale research and real life everyday clinical routine neuroimaging data

• Willingness to work in teams, within NAL, BINC and Biggs and with national and international collaborators

• Communicate your research results to the larger communities through publications in international conferences and journals

• Work with great deal of independence in achieving research goals Requirements

• A PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision or Medical Image Analytics with solid experience in deep learning; Experience in Neuroimaging and Dementia Research is a plus.

• Great eagerness to solve scientific problems
• Strong programming skills, e.g. in Python, R, C++ and Java. Experience with

Python deep learning toolboxes and high-performance computational facilities

could be a plus;
• Excellent record of publishing in relevant high-quality journals in the above fields • Excellent communication abilities in English; spoken and written.
