CFP – ISCMI 2020 (virtual conference this year)

The 7th International Conference on Soft Computing and Machine Intelligence (ISCMI 2020) will be held virtually this year on 14th-15th Nov, 2020 (http://iscmi.us/index.html). lSCMl is the annual flagship event of  llCCl (http://www.iicci.in/) and is held annually since 2017 in memory of life & work of Prof. Lotfi Zadeh.

IEEE Sweden Section, IEEE Computational Intelligence Society &  IFSA  are the  technical co-sponsors for the event.

Due to the prevailing situation, and based on the requests from our peers we have extended the submission deadline. The conference was slated to be held in Stockholm, Sweden, but in light of the prevailing situation due to COVID-19, we have decided to hold it as a full-fledged virtual conference (more information at http://iscmi.us).

The proceedings of  all the previous 6 lSCMl conferences are available on IEEE Xplore.
Apart from the lEEE published proceedings & availability at Xplore, there is scope for a selected subset of papers to be considered for publication at a special issue of the NCAA journal  (a Springer publication with 2018 Impact Factor & 5 year Impact Factor of 4.664 & 3.570 respectively  https://www.springer.com/journal/521).

Prof. Zadeh Memorial lecture 
The annual llCCl Prof. Zadeh Memorial lecture at ISCMI 2020 will be delivered by Prof. B-M Bernadette, the current President of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (Life Fellow, IEEE & also Fellow, IFSA).

ACM Computer Science in Cars Symposium (CSCS), Deadline EXTENDED Sept 11th

Dear CVML community,

I would like to draw your attention to the ACM Computer Science in Cars Symposium (CSCS).
This year's focus is “Future Challenges in Artificial Intelligence and Security for Autonomous Vehicles“.
The symposium will take place on December 02, 2020 at Technical University of Ingolstadt (Germany) – if necessary a remote presentation is possible this year.

The CSCS is ACM's flagship Car IT event.
We are bringing together the likes of scientists, engineers, business representatives and everyone who shares a passion for solving the myriad of complex problems of in-vehicular technology and it's application in automation, driver/vehicular safety, and driving system security.
There are two ways of submission: Full Paper and Extended Abstract

CFP ICPR’2020 WS Explainable DL – AI

The recent focus of AI and Pattern Recognition communities on the supervised learning
approaches, and particularly to Deep Learning / AI, resulted in considerable increase of
performance of Pattern Recognition and AI systems,
but also raised the question of the trustfulness and explainability of their predictions
for decision-making.
Instead of developing and using Deep NNs as black boxes and adapting known architectures
to variety of problems, the goal of explainable Deep Learning / AI is to propose methods
to “understand” and “explain” how the these systems produce their decisions.
The goals of the workshop are to bring together research community which is working on
the question of improving explainability of AI and Pattern Recognition algorithms and systems.
The topics of the workshop cover but are not limited to:

•       “Sensing” or “salient features” of Neural Networks and AI systems – explanation of
which features for a given configuration yield predictions both in spatial (images) and
temporal (time-series, video) data;
•       Attention mechanisms in Deep Neural Networks and their explanation;
•       For temporal data, the explanation of which features and at what time are the most
    prominent for the prediction and what are the time intervals when the contribution
    of each data is important;
•       How the explanation can help on making Deep learning architectures more sparse
    (pruning) and light-weight;
•       When using multimodal data how the prediction in data streams are correlated and
    explain each other;
•       Automatic generation of explanations / justifications of algorithms and systems’
    decisions;
•       Decisional uncertainly and explicability
•       Evaluation of the explanations generated by Deep Learning and other AI systems.

The Proceedings of the EDL-AI 2020 workshop will be published in the Springer
Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. Papers will be selected by a single blind
(reviewers are anonymous) review process. Submissions must be formatted in accordance
with the Springer's Computer Science Proceedings guidelines. Two types of contribution
will be considered:

    Full paper (12-15 pages)
    Short papers (6-8 pages)

IEEE International Workshop on Machine Learning for Signal Processing (September 21–24 2020, online)

The 30th MLSP workshop in the series of workshops organized by the IEEE Signal Processing Society MLSP Technical Committee will take place at the Aalto University campus, Finland, but with a fully virtual program due to the pandemic, and present the most recent and exciting advances in machine learning for signal processing through keynote talks, tutorials, special and regular single-track sessions as well as matchmaking events.

Invited speakers: Aki Vehtari (Aalto University) will give a tutorial on the Stan probabilistic programming language, Michael Unser (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) a keynote on “Deep splines”, Ole Winther (University of Copenhagen / Technical University of Denmark) on “Latent variable models from independent components to VAEs and flows”, Mihaela van der Schaar (University of Cambridge) on “Machine learning: Changing the future of healthcare”, and Razvan Pascanu (DeepMind) on “Improving learning efficiency for deep neural networks”. The technical program includes 82 oral/poster presentations.

We invite submissions for the 2020 Artificial Intelligence and Humanitarian and Disaster Relief (AI + HADR) Workshop (http://hadr.ai/) at 2020 Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS). The goal of this workshop is to bring together the AI and HADR communities to highlight existing and start future work at the intersection of these two fields.

Topics

We welcome submissions on the topic of AI applied to HADR problems. Relevant subfields of AI include, but are not limited to:

  • Machine Learning
  • Computer Vision
  • Robotics
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Information Theory
  • Decision Theory
  • Game Theory
  • Causal Modeling
  • Applied Statistics
  • Data Sets/Knowledge Bases

Relevant problems in HADR include, but are not limited to:

  • Search and rescue robotics
  • Computer vision for damage assessment
  • Motion planning in obstructed roads
  • Disinformation management on social media

Formatting Instructions

Submissions will be limited to five pages of content and one page of references in the NeurIPS 2020 format.  Papers may contain appendices after the sixth page to highlight additional results, figures, proofs, and other supplementary materials, but the main body of the work should be self-contained and reviewers are not required to consider appendices in their decisions.  Further, other supplementary materials, such as videos or audio clips, may be submitted as supplementary materials.  Again, reviewers are not required to consider these supplementary materials in their decisions. 

Submission Instructions

The deadline for submission is October 2nd, 2020 at 11:59PM Pacific Time. Submissions must be made on the hosted CMT instance at https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/AIHADRW2020.

All submissions will undergo double-blind review; Thus, please ensure that your submission is anonymized when submitted, including removing names, affiliations, contact information, and ensuring that references to your own previous work are in the third person.

Review Criteria

Submissions will be judged on:

  • Their technical merit
  • The clarity in conveying the importance of the work, methodology, and experimental results (if applicable)
  • The relevance to the goal of the workshop.

Each submission will be reviewed by at least one member each from the AI and HADR communities to ensure both technical merit and impact are both considered.

Accepted Papers

Authors of accepted papers will be notified on October 23rd, 2020.  Upon notification, we ask that authors of accepted papers deanonymize their works, make any final changes, host their paper on the web (for instance, on arXiv), and then submit a link to where the paper is hosted to the workshop organizers by December 1st, 2020.  The workshop website will then be updated with links to accepted papers.

Note that accepted papers will not be formally published. This means that:

  • Authors can retain full copyright of their works
  • Work contained in accepted papers are not precluded to be published in other research venues
  • Submitted papers are allowed to have significant overlap with previously published or currently submitted work (in this case, please indicate overlapping works).

Some or all of accepted papers will be selected for oral presentations during the workshop.  Because the workshop is entirely virtual this year, these oral presentations will be presented in video form.  The authors will record a video of themselves giving their presentation and submit it to the program committee by November 7th, 2020.  More specific video submission instructions will be provided in the near future.
