Call for Submissions

For over a decade, CVMP has built a reputation as the prime venue for researchers to meet with practitioners in the Creative Industries: film, broadcast and games. The Conference brings together expertise in video processing, computer vision, computer graphics, animation and physical simulation, sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH. It provides a forum for the presentation of the latest research and application advances, combined with keynote and invited talks on state-of-the-art industry practice. CVMP regularly attracts around 140 attendees approximately 50:50 from academia and the creative industries.
Virtual CVMP 2020: 10–11 December 2020

In light of the unknowns associated with the current COVID-19 situation, CVMP will be fully virtual this year! The event will take place on 10–11 December 2020. Proceedings of the Full Papers will appear in the ACM Digital Library, as usual. Please keep checking the CVMP website for updates.

We encourage participation from a diverse range of backgrounds including scientists, engineers, artists and producers to contribute inspiring papers, presentations, posters and technical abstracts. We invite submissions to the conference on any topic that demonstrates an impact on visual media production, animation, and interactive content creation and experiences. This year there is an additional focus on virtual production techniques and the impact they have across the Creative Industries. We hope contributions will convey innovative ideas, technical details and insight or experience into theory and/or practice.

Full Papers:
We invite submissions of regular, technical papers presenting novel research or applications related to any aspect of media production, including computer vision, graphics and machine learning research with application in this area. We particularly encourage the submission of early-stage doctoral work. Submitted papers can be any length up to 10 pages and will be subject to double-blind peer review. Short Papers and Technical Abstracts:
Submissions are invited in the form of a one-page extended abstract, describing innovative industry practice or academic research. Submissions can also describe work in progress and do not prevent submission of the work elsewhere. Accepted submissions will be presented in poster form at the conference, and will not appear in the ACM Digital Library.

Demos:
The demos programme promotes applied research and applications to facilitate collaborations between industrial and academic members of the media production community. Demos do not have to be related to full or short papers accepted at CVMP but should have the form of live demonstrations of media production methods and/or their applications. A one-page paper should be submitted describing the content of the demonstration and an overview of the approach.
Industry Talks:
We invite submissions for industry talks showcasing innovative ideas and practice. These should be submitted in the form of a one-page extended abstract describing the proposed talk. Talks will take a similar form to submissions for talks at SIGGRAPH and FMX, and can be talks that have already been presented at other venues.

The Thirty-Third Annual Conference on Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence (IAAI-21) will be held virtually February 4-6, 2021 in parallel with AAAI-21. IAAI-21 is a venue for papers describing highly innovative realizations of AI technology. The objective of the conference is to showcase successful applications and novel uses of AI. The conference will use technical papers, best practice papers, invited talks, and panel discussions to explore issues, methods, and lessons learned in the development and deployment of AI applications; and to promote an interchange of ideas between basic and applied AI and the discourse on the actual deployment of AI in practice.

IAAI-21 has expanded its tracks this year, and will consider submissions in the following categories: (1) papers that showcase novel, deployed applications of AI, and potential applications on this trajectory; (2) papers that present tools for faster AI solutions development and deployment; (3) papers that showcase original ways of integrating methodologies from different areas of AI for practical realization; as well as (4) best practice papers.

Developments in Engineering are characterized by a growing

complexity, which is balanced by an extensive utilization of

computational resources. This complexity is not only a feature of

engineering systems, processes and products, it is primarily a key

attribute of the respective algorithms for analysis, control and

decision-making to develop those engineering solutions. To cope

with complexity in this broad spectrum of demands, Computational

Intelligence is implemented increasingly in virtually all

engineering disciplines. This emerging approach provides a basis

for developments of a new quality.

 

This Symposium is focused on the utilization of Computational

Intelligence in this context in the entire field of engineering.

Examples concern the control of processes of various kinds and for

various purposes, monitoring with sensors, smart sensing, system

identification, decision-support and assistance systems,

visualization methods, prediction schemes, the solution of

classification problems, response surface approximations, the

formulation of surrogate models, etc. The engineering application

fields may comprise, for example, bioengineering with prostheses

design and control, civil and mechanical engineering processes,

systems and structures concerned with vehicles, aircraft or

bridges, industrial and systems engineering with design and control

of power systems, electrical and computer engineering with

developments in robotics, etc. All kinds of approaches from the

field of Computational Intelligence are welcome.

 

As a part of the Symposium special attention is paid to sustainable

engineering solutions to address current and future challenges of

environmental changes and uncertainty. This includes developments

dealing with climate change, environmental processes, disaster

warning and management, infrastructure security, life cycle

analysis and design, etc. Events, disasters and issues under

consideration may be natural such as earthquakes or tsunamis,

man-made such as human failure or terrorist attacks, or a

combination thereof including secondary effects such as failures in

nuclear power plants,which may be critical for systems, the

environment and the society. Developments which include a

comprehensive consideration of uncertainty and techniques of

reliable computing are explicitly invited. These may involve

probabilistic including Bayesian approaches,interval methods, fuzzy

methods, imprecise probabilities and further concepts. In this

context robust design is of particular interest with all its facets

as a basic concept to develop sustainable engineering solutions.
