Since opening the call for participation for the 2021 SIAM Conference on Computational Science and Engineering (CSE21), we have received several inquiries about the conference format. We want to definitively state that anyone (from attendees to speakers to poster presenters to panelists) who would like to participate remotely will be able to do so.

IEEEXtreme is a global, virtual challenge in which teams of IEEE Student Members – advised and proctored by an IEEE member, and often supported by an IEEE Student Branch – compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. This year’s competition will be held on 24 October 00:00:00 UTC.
As a global competition, IEEEXtreme is always virtual. Typically, students would compete with their team and their proctor in the same location, in most cases at their local Student Branch. This year, the IEEEXtreme committee will allow the proctored teams to compete using online Video Conferencing Platforms. The committee will be doing its best to keep teams engaged throughout the 24-hours.

Data Driven Governing Equations Recovery with Deep Neural Networks

We present effective numerical algorithms for recovering unknown governing equations from measurement data. Upon recasting the problem into a function approximation problem, we discuss the importance of using a large number of short bursts of trajectory data, rather than using data from a small number of long trajectories. Several recovery strategies using deep neural networks (DNNs) are presented. We demonstrate that residual network (ResNet) is particularly suitable for equation discovery, as it can produce exact time integrator for numerical prediction. We then present a set of applications of the DNN learning of unknown dynamical systems, which may contain random parameters or missing variables, as well as learning of unknown partial differential equations. The numerical examples demonstrate that DNNs can be a highly effective tool for data driven physics recovery.

In the event of covid-19 pandemic being still active early next year, the conference will allow remote presentations.

The purpose of the International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the theory and applications in the areas of Agents and Artificial Intelligence. Two simultaneous related tracks will be held, covering both applications and current research work. One track focuses on Agents, Multi-Agent Systems and Software Platforms, Distributed Problem Solving and Distributed AI in general. The other track focuses mainly on Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Representation, Planning, Learning, Scheduling, Perception Reactive AI Systems, and Evolutionary Computing and other topics related to Intelligent Systems and Computational Intelligence.
