We are happy to announce that the 8th Visual Object Tracking Challenge VOT2020 will be held in conjunction with ECCV2020.

Open challenges in VOT2020:
1. VOT short-term tracking challenge VOT-ST2020
2. VOT short-term real-time challenge VOT-RT2020
3. VOT long-term tracking challenge VOT-LT2020
4. VOT color and thermal short-term tracking challenge VOT-RGBT2020
5. VOT color and depth long-term tracking challenge VOT-RGBD2020

Highlights:
* A NEW performance evaluation methodology will be used for short-term trackers
* SEGMENTATION ground truth used for the short-term tracker evaluation (trackers may report segmentation masks)
* A NEW Python toolkit will be used

Participate by:
1. Sending the results of your tracker
2. Sending a full-length paper

The VOT committee solicits full-length papers describing:
* Original or improved trackers as well as papers giving new insights into existing trackers or class of trackers.
* Novel ways of using and extending the VOT framework for tracker performance analysis.

Contributors of the trackers outperforming the baseline will be invited to co-author the results paper.

Multimodal Emotion Recognition – Topic Engagement Classification – Trustworthiness Quantification

The Multimodal Sentiment Analysis in Real-life Media Challenge and Workshop (MuSe) focuses on Multimodal Sentiment Recognition, Emotion- Target Engagement, and Trustworthiness of User-generated Content. It will be the first competition aimed at comparison of multimedia processing and deep learning methods for automatic audiovisual, and textual based sentiment and emotion sensing, under a common experimental condition set.

The goal of the Challenge is to provide a common benchmark test set for multimodal information processing and to bring together the Affective Computing, and Sentiment Analysis communities, to compare the merits of multimodal fusion for the three core modalities under well-defined conditions. Another motivation is the need to advance sentiment and emotion recognition systems to be able to deal with fully, previously unexplored naturalistic behaviour in large volumes of in-the-wild data, as this is exactly the type of data that both multimedia and human-machine/ human-robot communication interfaces have to face in the real world.

Call For Participation – OpenEyes Workshop @ ECCV 2020: Call for Papers, Challenge & Extended Abstract

Dear colleague,
It is our pleasure to announce to you that we have joined hands with Facebook Reality Labs to organize a joint full-day workshop at ECCV 2020 in Glasgow, UK. Specifically, this is an event combining the former OpenEDS workshop (organized by Facebook at ICCV 2019) and our GAZE workshop. In this way, we will be able to cover a broader range of topics involving eye-tracking, including the context of AR/VR as well as in natural settings.
The workshop will host two tracks: the first focuses on gaze estimation and prediction methods, with a focus on accuracy and robustness in natural settings (in-the-wild); the second track focuses on the scale and generalization problem for eye-tracking systems operating on AR and VR platforms. The second track also includes the 2020 eye-tracking challenge. More information on the OpenEDS 2020 challenge can be found at https://research.fb.com/programs/openeds-2020-challenge/

and the following topics are of particular interest to us this year:
  • Proposal of novel eye detection, gaze estimation pipelines using deep neural networks that incorporate one or all of the following:
  • Geometric/anatomical constraints into the network in a differentiable manner.
  • Demonstration of robustness to conditions where current methods fail (illumination, appearance, low-resolution etc.).
  • Robust estimation from different data modalities such as RGB, depth, and near IR.
  • Use of additional cues, such as task context, temporal data, eye movement classification.
  • Designing new, accurate metrics to account for rapid eye movements in the real world.
  • Semi-/un-/self-supervised learning, meta-learning, domain adaptation, attention mechanisms and other related machine learning methods for gaze estimation.
  • Methods for temporal gaze estimation and prediction including Bayesian methods.
  • Unsupervised semantic segmentation of eye regions.
  • Active learning frameworks for semantic segmentation of eye images.
  • Generative models for eye image synthesis and gaze estimation.
  • Transfer learning for eye tracking from simulation data to real data.
  • Domain transfer applications for eye tracking.
This workshop will accept submissions of both published and unpublished works. We will also solicit high-quality eye tracking-related papers rejected at ECCV 2020, accompanied by the reviews and a letter of changes which clearly states the changes made to address comments by the previous reviewers. Accepted papers may be featured as spotlight talks and posters. In addition to regular workshop papers, we also invite extended abstracts of ongoing or published work (e.g. related papers on ECCV main track). We see this as an opportunity for authors to promote their work to an interested audience. Extended abstracts are limited to six pages (excluding references).

Call for Competition Proposals

IJCB 2020 – CALL FOR COMPETITIONS

We invite competition proposals for the 2020 International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB 2020) in Houston, Texas, USA. The main goal of the competitions is to benchmark state-of-the art algorithms, to consolidate research, identify open biometrics-related problems and most importantly to present novel insights based on a group benchmarking effort within a specific problem area of biometrics. We solicit competition proposals on any topic of interest to the broader biometric community and strongly encourage proposals focusing on new emerging fields and open research questions that are able to attract a significant number of participants. Competition organizers having a strong track record in the field are especially welcome.

The deadline for submitting competition proposals is May 8th, 2020. Decisions will be circulated by May 12th, 2020.

*** Competition Proposal Submission ***
Competition proposals should be sent to the IJCB 2020 competition co-chairs, Hien V. Nyugen (hvnguy35@central.uh.edu) and Anush Sankaran (anush.sankaran@gmail.com), with the email subject »IJCB 2020 Competition Proposal: [title of your competition]«. The proposal should include the following information to facilitate the decision process:

• Title of the competition.
• Names, affiliations, contact information, and a brief CV of the competition organizers.
• A list of three most relevant publications related to the competition for each organizer.
• Justification:
    o Motivation for the competition, expected outcomes and anticipated impact,
    o Relevance to IJCB 2020,
    o Relationship to previous competitions, if any.
• Contribution
    o Description of the novelty of the competition,
    o Research questions to be investigated,
    o Expected contributions of the competition.
• Execution:
    o  Description of the dataset(s) used for the competition and the available annotations,
    o Details on the experimental protocol and result generation/submission procedure,
    o Information on the platform used (for data sharing, submission, verification of the results), if any,
    o Description of the evaluation criteria (performance metrics) and available baseline implementations/code (e.g., a starter kit).
    o A video tutorial of the competition, and the expected results, is preferred. Please upload the video on YouTube and share the link.
• Organization:
    o Expected minimum number of external participants (separate from the organizers),
    o Plan for promoting the competition and attracting participants,
    o Description of the planned coordination activities,
    o A detailed timeline for the competition.
• Other relevant information.

*** Schedule ***
The competitions should preferably start in May or early June 2020 and be completed by the summary-paper submission deadline on August 15th, 2020. Competition organizers will also be requested to prepare a web page for the competition, which will be linked from the conference web site. The website should be online before the start of the competition.
 
*** Proceedings and Presentation ***
Competition organizers will be invited to submit a summary paper discussing organization, datasets, and results by August 15th, 2020. The summary papers will be considered for inclusion in the IJCB 2020 conference program and should follow the same formatting and presentation rules as regular papers. Unlike regular papers, competition papers will be reviewed by the IJCB program chairs. Organization of a competition in the scope of IJCB 2020 does not guarantee acceptance of the summary papers. The papers need to make a clear contribution either in terms of new insight, novel research questions addressed, novel research problems or novel algorithmic solutions. The presentation format (if accepted) will be determined based on the quality of the submission. Accepted summary papers will be included in the proceedings of IJCB 2020 and send for inclusion into IEEE Xplore.
