HealthDL: Deep Learning for Wellbeing Applications Leveraging Mobile Devices and Edge Computing.

The availability of affordable wearable Internet of Things and powerful smartphones with embedded sensors has revolutionalized intelligent health and wellness applications. Users often use wIoT and smartphones to collect medical data and later sending them to the cloud for further analysis. Edge-based solution where analysis and inference of such data are carried out on edge devices has also been proposed to address the security and privacy concern of users since the data is not transferred to untrusted cloud for inferencing. However, resource constraints on the edge devices pose challenges in using deep learning solutions. Research needs to be conducted to produce efficient system design and algorithms that can be deployed in edge devices. In addition, many wearables and smartphone applications now rely on voice assistants which utilize deep-learning based neural conversation models. Efficient low resource DL-based neural conversation models need to be designed to allow for personalized services. This workshop invites researchers from academia and industry to submit papers related but not limited to the following topics:

·         E2E deep learning for smart health applications.

·         Deep learning for sensing, analysis and interpretation of wIOT healthcare data.

·         Resource constrained deep learning schemes for smartphones and wIOT

·         Edge-based Deep learning & AI models (e.g. sensor-based, visual-based or NLP-based) for mental health or other illnesses

·         Transfer learning and model compression for smart health applications

·         Context-aware ubiquitous healthcare systems based on wearables, edge machine learning

·         Emerging applications or sensors for personalized health and fitness

Call for expression of interest: Special session proposal “Machine Learning and Signal Processing for Autonomous Systems” for IEEE MLSP 2020 Finland

Dear Members,

 

We are working on a special session proposal titled "Machine Learning and Signal Processing for Autonomous Systems" to be submitted to the IEEE Workshop on Machine Learning for Signal Processing -MLSP (https://ieeemlsp.cc/) to be held on September 21–24, 2020 in Espoo, Finland. We are currently looking for potential submissions to include in our proposal. We were wondering if you would be interested in submitting a paper to our special session, and thus help us promote autonomous systems into signal processing and machine learning venues, such as MLSP.

 

Autonomous systems are one of the most important current trends in research and development: robots, driverless vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicles are becoming a more integral part of our society every day. The aim of this special session is to look at the application of signal processing and machine learning to autonomous systems, in an attempt to boost synergies between those fields and encourage the realization of machine learning and signal processing algorithms aware of autonomous system constraints.

II International Workshop on Pattern Recognition for Cultural Heritage (PatReCH 2020)

The enormous amount of artefacts and information that come from the past is increasingly and rapidly being digitized. However, the useful information contained in these data is not easy to exploit and some kind of analysis is needed. On the other hand, the digital representations of real objects require for some kind of manipulation.

Recent machine learning and pattern recognition algorithms give the opportunity to analyze and manipulate the acquired data in order to better exploit the contained information and generate the best digital representation.

 

The aim of this workshop is to present recent advances in Pattern Recognition (PR) techniques for data analysis and representation in the cultural heritage field. Bringing together the work of many experts in this multidisciplinary subject to highlight these advances from a wide-angle perspective, as well as to stimulate new theoretical and applied research for better characterizing the state of the art in this subject.

 

The workshop will be held on 13 or 18 September 2020, in conjunction with the 25th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR20), that will be held from 13 to 18 September 2020 in Milan, Italy.

 

Topics include, but are not limited to the following:
