CALL FOR PAPERS
The 2020 IEEE 14th Image, Video, and Multidimensional Signal Processing
Workshop (IVMSP 2020) will be held June 23-26, 2020 in Nafplio, the
capital of the first Hellenic Republic (Greece). It will bring together
leading experts from academia and industry to share the most recent and
exciting advances in image, video, and multidimensional signal
processing and analysis.
IVMSP 2020 is the 14th of the biennial events that are organised by the
Image, Video, and Multidimensional Signal Processing Technical Committee
(IVMSP TC) of the IEEE Signal Processing Society with the aim to promote
and guide the advancement of the field of image, video, and
multidimensional signal processing. This includes those areas listed
under all EDICS categories of the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing
and the IEEE Transactions on Computational Imaging, as well as under the
EDICS subcategory Multidimensional Signal Processing of IEEE
Transactions on Signal Processing.
The program will include presentations of novel research theories /
applications / results in lecture, poster and plenary sessions. A number
of Special Sessions organised by internationally recognised experts in
the area, will be also incorporated.
The theme of IVMSP 2020 is Image and Video in the Big Data Era. Topics

PAPER SUBMISSION
The language of the Workshop is English. Prospective authors are invited
to submit full-length papers (up to 4 pages for technical content
including figures, tables, references and one optional 5th page
containing only references). IEEE templates for the paper format, and
“no show” policy apply. Authors should indicate one or more of the above
listed categories that best describe the topic of the paper, as well as
their preference (if any) regarding lecture or poster sessions. Lecture
and poster sessions will be treated equally in terms of the review
process. Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by at least two experts
in the field. To maximize visibility and impact as early as possible,
all accepted papers will be published in IEEE Xplore through Open
Preview and will be freely accessible and downloadable in final format
beginning one month before the Workshop. In addition to the technical
program, a social program will be offered to the participants and their
companions. It will provide an opportunity to meet colleagues and
friends against a backdrop of outstanding natural beauty and rich
cultural heritage in one of the best-known international tourist
destinations.

Artificial intelligence has invaded the agriculture field during the last few years. From automatic crop monitoring via drones, smart agricultural equipment, food security and camera-powered apps assisting farmers to satellite imagery based global crop disease prediction and tracking, computer vision has been a ubiquitous tool. This workshop aims to expose the fascinating progress and unsolved problems of computational agriculture to the AI research community. It is jointly organized by AI and computational agriculture researchers and has the support of CGIAR, a global partnership that unites international organizations engaged in agricultural research for a food-secure future.
Computer Vision for Agriculture (CV4A) is the second workshop of the Computer Vision for Global Challenges initiative and will focus on agriculture. It will be held in April 2020, in conjunction with the International Conference on Representation Learning (ICLR), in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It will be a full-day event and will feature invited speakers, poster and spotlight presentations, a panel discussion and (tentatively) a mentoring/networking dinner.
CHALLENGES AND COMPETITIONS
CV4A will feature two open challenges, both hosted on the African platform Zindi:
* The CGIAR Wheat Rust Detection Challenge
* The Radiant Earth Foundation Crop Classification using Earth Observations Challenge
Both challenges will feature cash prizes and travel grants for the top performing submission, as well as the top performing submission from an African researcher and the top performing submission from a female-identified African researcher. More details coming soon!
CALL FOR PAPERS
We invite researchers to submit their recent work on Computer Vision applications, tasks and challenges inspired by and applied to agriculture, with a special focus on developing regions. Topic include but are not limited to:
– Crop health (pests, diseases, plant nutrient deficiencies) and crop yield estimation.
– Crop type recognition from ground and/or satellite imagery. Such data can be used to target interven- tions, assess risk, evaluate the impact of programs.
– Artificial intelligence for bottom-up, farmer-led crop improvement.
– Hyper-spectral (e.g. NIR, MIR, x-ray fluorescence) imaging for detecting early-stage or physiological issues in crops (e.g. photosynthetic activity, water stress, nutrient stress).
– Whole-field, multi-view crop diagnostics.
– Computer vision methods for food security, index insurance, drought/flood early warning systems.
– Multi-modal integration of data from diverse sensors.
– Crowdsourcing agricultural data.
– Papers will be presented as poster and oral presentations. There will be some travel support to presenters.
Researchers based in developing regions are strongly encouraged to submit

Doctoral Consortium:
The IWBF Doctoral Consortium is a great opportunity for current/prospective Ph.D. students to present their ideas and/or

One mentor will be nominated for each candidate/student and the discussions will be organized into both bilateral and
multilateral meetings.

ABSTRACT
RGB-D sensors, combining both video- and depth-based sensing capabilities, can facilitate several applications, like the detection and understanding of human movements, actions and activities, and the interactions between humans and surrounding environment and objects. The joint availability of synchronized video signals and depth measurement information, from easy-to-use and low-cost sensors, helps to improve the performance of automatic classification and recognition algorithms, supporting crucial processes such as the extraction of skeletal joints and human silhouette, with increased accuracy and reducing their dependence from shadows, light reflections and color similarity.
This Special Session aims to promote research contributions on RGB-D sensors as measurement devices applied in the context of Industry 4.0, focusing on the characterization and assessment of their performance in different operating conditions, especially related to challenging deployments “in the wild”. How the quality and reliability of the measured data influence the performance of machine learning approaches is of utmost interest, as well as the investigation of new and innovative research ideas in which RGB-D sensors may provide a basic contribution. New theoretical approaches, experimental tests, and assessment in real-world use cases, are of interest.
