La Universidad Siglo 21 convoca a toda la comunidad académica y literaria a participar en el Concurso Internacional de ensayo “Pensando el siglo XXI”.

 

El objetivo es alentar la generación y transmisión de ideas creativas e innovadoras, que aborden problemáticas de interés presente y futuro.

 

Serán aceptadas todas aquellas obras que se encuadren dentro del formato habitual de un ensayo. El trabajo ganador será premiado con 2000 dólares estadounidenses.

 

Se podrán presentar trabajos que aborden alguna de las siguientes áreas: Educación; Tecnología; Psicología; Política; Sociología; Humanidades y Negocios/Management/Economía.

COMPUTER VISION FOR AUTOMATIC HUMAN HEALTH MONITORING

Automatic Human Health Monitoring Based on Computer Vision has gained rapid scientific attention in the decade, fueled by a large number of research articles and commercial systems based on set of features, extracted from face and gesture. Consequently, researchers from computer vision, as well as from medical science community have granted significant attention, with goals ranging from patient analysis and monitoring to diagnostics.  The goal of this special session is to bring together researchers and practitioners working in this area of computer vision and medical science, and to address a wide range of theoretical and practical issues related to real-life healthcare systems.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
 Health monitoring based on face analysis,
 Health monitoring based on gesture analysis,
 Health monitoring based corporeal-based visual features,

WACV2020 Workshop on Deepfakes and Presentation Attacks in Biometrics

Biometric recognition systems are vulnerable to different types of presentation attacks (PAs), where an adversary presents a fabricated artifact or altered trait to biometric sensors. The intent is often to obfuscate one’s own identity, create a synthetic identity, or to spoof another person’s identity. Typically observed attacks include, but are not limited to printed attack, replay attack, makeup attack and 3D mask attack. In order to detect or deflect presentation attacks on biometric systems, numerous Presentation Attack Detection (PAD, aka, anti-spoofing schemes) have been developed in the literature, including sensor-based (e.g., RGB, Depth and IR) and image-based solutions.

With the advent of techniques such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and generative adversarial networks (GANs), more sophisticated presentation attacks such as Deepfakes have emerged. Hence, it is imperative to develop effective countermeasures to address these challenges as well. The field of biometric security has attracted great attention in recent years and has heavily investigated in a number of projects including Tabula Rasa (EU project), ODIN (IARPA project) and DARPA MediFor SAVI underlining the need to solutions to defend against these attack vectors.

This workshop in WACV-2020 is being organized to reflect on these specific issues, the impact and countermeasures for biometric systems. The goal of this workshop is to bring experts from computer vision, pattern recognition and image processing fields to advance the state-of-the-art PAD solutions and Deepfake detection solutions.

Papers are invited to report on following topics, but not limited to:

    • Novel physical attacks on biometric systems (e.g.,mask attacks).

Submission Guidelines:

  • Papers presented at WACV workshops will be published as part of the "WACV Workshop Proceedings" and should, therefore, follow the same guideline as the main conference. Workshop papers will be included in IEEE Xplore, but will be indexed separately from the main conference papers. Paper submission guidlines of WACV can be accessed through this link.
  • For review, a complete paper should be submitted using the for_review format and the guidelines provided in the author kit. All reviews are double-blind, so please be careful not to include any identifying information including the authors’ names or affiliations.
  • Accepted papers will be allocated 8 pages in the proceedings. Please note that References/Bibliography at the end of the paper will NOT count toward the aforementioned page limit. That is, a paper can be up to 8 pages + the references.

Abstract : This tutorial / workshop aims at introducing the main concepts of robotic surgery and to discuss the emerging field of autonomous robotic surgery (ARS). The addition of autonomy to robotic surgery involves the integration of complex mechatronic systems with advanced perceptual and reasoning capabilities that require detailed models and accurate control.

Examples of cognitive features are surgical task analysis, situation awareness, and automatic task execution. This tutorial will be organized in five sections: (i) basic concepts of design and (ii) control of a surgical robot, (iii) advanced surgical robotic systems, (iv) surgeon-robot interfaces, and (v) issues related to task modeling and integration of perception and reasoning into the robot control loop. Advances in these areas have been pursued during recent European projects such as ISUR (Intelligent Surgical Robot), ARS and CASCADE (Cognitive AutonomouS CAtheter operating in Dynamic

Environments) and ATLAS (Joint doctoral program in autonomous intraluminal surgery). Specific solutions will be presented during the tutorial and put in the broader ARS context. The main advantages and challenges of using cognition in such difficult application will be highlighted. During the workshop contributions from interested parties will be presented and analysed. The discussion will help shape the future research directions in this promising field.

 

 

Overall idea

 

 

The first half of the day will be organized as a tutorial. The second half day is an open workshop open to contributions by the scientific and medical community. Contributors will present their work via an oral and/or poster presentation. Through a panel discussion the different contributions will be discussed, points of attention raised and directions for future research sketched. A position statement will be distillated as a result of these interactions.
