Scope

After the great success of the previous HEAd conferences, which received submissions from more than 50 countries, we are pleased to announce the Fifth International Conference on Higher Education Advances (HEAd'19). This conference is an excellent forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas, experiences, opinions and research results relating to the preparation of students, teaching/learning methodologies and the organization of educational systems.

The HEAd'19 conference will be held on June 26-28, 2019 at the Faculty of Business Administration and Management of the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (UPV), which has been recently ranked as the best technical university in Spain by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2018.

Topics of interest

The program committee encourages the submission of articles that communicate applied and empirical findings of interest to higher education professionals.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following topic areas:

  • Innovative materials and new tools for teaching
  • Teaching and learning experiences
  • Educational technology (e.g., virtual labs, e-learning)
  • Evaluation and assessment of student learning
  • Emerging technologies in learning (e.g., MOOC, OER, gamification)
  • Scientific and research education
  • Experiences outside the classroom (e.g., practicums, mobility)
  • New teaching/learning theories and models
  • Globalization in education and education reforms
  • Education economics
  • Entrepreneurship and learning for employment
  • Education accreditation, quality and assessment
  • Competency-based learning and skill assessment

Important Dates

Submission deadline: February 1, 2019
Author notification: April 3, 2019
Camera ready due: April 24, 2019
Conference dates: June 26-28, 2019

Publications

All accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings with a DOI and ISBN number. They will be published in open access by UPV Press and submitted to be indexed in major international bibliographic databases. Previous editions are indexed in the Thomson-Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index – Web of Science Core Collection (former ISI Proceedings).

Awards

The Program Committee will select the winners for the Best Paper and Best Student Paper awards. To be eligible for the best student paper award, the presenting author of the paper must be a full-time student.

Submission guidelines

Authors from all over the world are invited to submit original and unpublished papers, which are not under review in any other conference or journal. All papers will be peer reviewed by the program committee based on their originality, significance, methodological soundness, and clarity of exposition.

Submitted papers must be written in English and should be in PDF format. They must follow the instructions in the template file, available in Microsoft Word format at:

Paper length must be between 4 and 8 pages, incorporating all text, references, figures and tables. Submissions imply the willingness of at least one author to register, attend the conference, and present the paper.

HEAd'19 is using the OCS platform of UPV Press to manage the submissions. This platform provides you with a submissions homepage where you can register your paper submission and make appropriate changes. The submission website is:

Valencia is the third largest city in Spain and is located on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. [CELFI] Convocatoria a becas para cursos de posgrado 2019

El CENTRO LATINOAMERICANO DE FORMACIÓN INTERDISCIPLINARIA (CELFI) busca crear redes de trabajo y colaboración entre profesionales de diferentes áreas de conocimiento para el abordaje de problemas complejos que trascienden las fronteras geográficas a partir de propuestas de formación interdisciplinaria dirigidas a investigadores latinoamericanos.
Las actividades se realizan en los Centros CELFI que abordan temáticas interdisciplinarias estratégicas. Éstos son el CELFI-DATOS, que está ubicado en la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, en la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires y el CELFI-SUSTENTABILIDAD Y DESARROLLO que funciona en el ámbito de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, en la ciudad de Córdoba.
Se ofrecen becas a investigadores latinoamericanos, que residan actualmente en Latinoamérica y a 70km de los Centros,  para que asistan a los cursos, se cubre la movilidad y la estadía.
Las iniciativas son financiadas de forma conjunta por la Secretaría de Gobierno de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Productiva del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura, Ciencia y Tecnología y el Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina (CAF).

Gestión Sustentable de Residuos Agropecuarios

La actividad aborda la temática de la gestión de residuos y efluentes de la producción animal, atendiendo a la intensificación que se viene desarrollando en la producción ganadera en la región. Los temas a tratar durante el seminario son: los sistemas de producción y su impacto en el ambiente, el análisis de flujo de nutrientes a diferentes escalas, los problemas generados por olores, patógenos, contaminación del agua, emisiones de amoníaco, emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero, contaminación por fósforo y residuos de drogas veterinarias y el uso de recursos en sistemas de producción animal.

El seminario contará con 35 becas y la inscripción se abrirá en las próximas semanas.

Técnicas de regresión y análisis multivariado con R

Las técnicas de regresión y el análisis de datos multivariados tienen por objeto el estudio estadístico de varias variables medidas en elementos de una población. Los modelos de regresión se utilizan para estudiar el efecto que diversas variables pueden tener en una variable de interés y son de aplicación en todos los ámbitos experimentales. En este curso se brindarán los conocimientos fundamentales y una visión general de los procedimientos estadísticos aplicables en distintas áreas, con una visión práctica que permite identificar la metodología óptima de distintas situaciones.

El curso contará con 20 becas y la inscripción se abrirá en las próximas semanas.
