Cursos para la Escuela de Ciencias Informáticas 2015

Se invita a presentar propuestas de cursos para la Escuela de Ciencias
Informáticas 2015. La misma se realizará del lunes 20 al sábado 25 de
julio de 2015 en el Departamento de Computación de la Facultad de Ciencias
Exactas y Naturales de la Universidad de Buenos Aires.

Los cursos de la ECI son de una semana de duración y de nivel de grado
avanzado y de posgrado. Se espera que los temas, o la profundidad de los
mismos, no estén cubiertos por la currícula regular de la carrera de grado
de Ciencias de la Computación.

Cada curso tendrá una duración total de 15 horas (3 horas por día, de
lunes a viernes) y tendrá una evaluación final. La evaluación puede ser un
trabajo que se envíe al profesor por e-mail, o un examen tomado el día
sábado. Se reciben propuestas de cursos a ser dictados en  Español,
Portugués o Inglés.

La organización de la ECI cubre los gastos de pasajes, alojamiento y
viáticos de sus profesores. No se pagan honorarios.

Las propuestas deberán ser enviadas por e-mail a eci2015@dc.uba.ar hasta
el 9 de febrero de 2015, y deberán incluir:

1) Título del curso.
2) Resumen del curso (máximo 1000 caracteres).
3) Índice breve del programa del curso.
4) CV del profesor.

ACERCA DE LA ECI:

La Escuela de Ciencias Informáticas (ECI) se lleva a cabo anualmente desde
el año 1987 en el Departamento de Computación de la Facultad de Ciencias
Exactas y Naturales de la Universidad de Buenos Aires.

Tiene como objetivo ofrecer a nuestros alumnos, a alumnos de otras
instituciones y a graduados y profesionales del medio, cursos intensivos
de posgrado, especialización y/o actualización de alto nivel científico,
sobre temas habitualmente no cubiertos por la currícula de grado. Estos
cursos son dictados por profesores de otras universidades u otras
instituciones, extranjeras y nacionales, lo cual permite brindar a los
participantes enfoques diferentes de los temas tratados, y la oportunidad
de establecer vínculos de cooperación académica, así como incentivar las
actividades de investigación y desarrollo.

A las distintas ediciones de la ECI han concurrido entre 350 y 800
personas, que tomaron uno, dos o tres cursos cada una. Entre ellas se
cuentan numerosos estudiantes y docentes de universidades del interior del
país, y también de países vecinos.

La realización de la escuela se ha hecho posible gracias a la generosa
colaboración de gran cantidad de prestigiosos profesores e investigadores
de universidades extranjeras y nacionales, y también al aporte de la
Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales de la UBA, a la colaboración
brindada por sus autoridades y personal, y al apoyo financiero que en
diferentes ediciones han brindado diversas empresas e instituciones.

Original technical contributions are sought. Contributions will be selected on the basis of their quality. Papers should not exceed 12 pages in total (using LNCS/LNAI style). Proceedings with accepted papers are expected to be published in the LNAI/LNCS series (Springer-Verlag) and distributed at the conference, as done in previous MDAI conferences. See LNAI volumes 3131, 3558, 3885, 4617, 5285, 5861, 6408, 6820, 7647, 8234, and 8825. Besides, papers, that according to the evaluation of the referees, are not suitable for the LNAI but that have some merits will be published in a USB proceedings (with ISBN) and scheduled in the MDAI program.

Call for Papers: International Conference on Climate Change: Impacts & Actions: London 27–31 January 2015.

Conference Focus

The 10th International Conference on Climate: Impacts and Actions will be held at the University of Greenwich, London, 27-31 January 2015. This annual event seeks to create an interdisciplinary forum for discussion of evidence of climate change: its causes, its ecosystemic impacts, and its human impacts. The conference also explores the technological, strategic, and social responses to climate change. Proposals for paper presentations, poster sessions, workshops, roundtables or colloquia are invited, addressing the impacts of and responses to climate change through one of the following themes: Proposal ideas that extend beyond these thematic areas below will also be considered:

Theme 1: Scientific Evidence

What is evidence is there of climate change?
  • Paleoclimatology: the earth’s climate in a long view
  • Climate change today: examining the data
  • Ice cap reduction and glacial melt
  • Sea level change
  • Floods, drought, forest fires, hurricanes and other sporadic events
