The Second Latin American Workshop on Information Fusion (LAFUSION 2024) focuses on the latest research results on Information Fusion in Latin America. Besides, this workshop aims to create a community of Information Fusion researchers in Latin America.
Information fusion is a multidisciplinary field that focuses on combining and
integrating information from diverse sources to improve the resulting information's accuracy, completeness, and reliability. It involves merging data or knowledge from multiple sensors, databases, or information systems to generate a unified and coherent representation of the underlying reality. Therefore, its main goal is to extract meaningful and actionable insights by leveraging the strengths of individual information sources while compensating for their limitations, uncertainties, or redundancies. It aims to provide a more comprehensive and accurate understanding of a given situation or phenomenon than what can be achieved by using individual sources in isolation.
Tutorial submissions
Proposals should be submitted as PDF files to lafusion2025@labnet.nce.ufrj.br. A proposal needs to contain (Up to 2 Pages IEEE conference format):
• The title of the proposed tutorial;
• The intended audience and prerequisites for the attendees’ background knowledge;
• A description of the tutorial including the learning objectives and a short summary of the material to be presented;
• Biographical sketch(es) of the instructor(s) including previous lecture and tutorial experience.

Workshop submissions
The second type of submission is the workshop papers (2-4 Pages). Authors of accepted positions and regular papers are expected to present their work in a plenary session as part of the main workshop program (hybrid). Accepted regular papers will be published in IEEE. Proceedings will be indexed in the IEEE Digital Library, SCOPUS, and other prominent digital libraries.
Workshop papers must be original (i.e., not previously published) and not currently under review by any other conference or journal. Submissions related to the featured topic are especially welcome, but all other submissions in the scope of Information Fusion are equally welcome. All submissions will be evaluated based on the same criteria. All submitted papers must conform to the IEEE conference template. LAFUSION 2024 will adopt a double-blind review process for regular papers. Authors must make a good faith effort to anonymize their submissions to ensure that their identities are not disclosed to reviewers, and reviewers are discouraged from actively working to uncover author identities. Submitting to arXiv (or similar) is allowed to promote early dissemination, provided cross-citations are not made.

This year, the workshop will be held at two sites: 28th at CETEM and 29th at the Othon hotel in Rio de Janeiro.

Daniela Lopez de Luise IMPROVE is a comprehensive conference of academic and technical nature, focused on image processing and computer vision scientific advances and practical applications. It brings together researchers, engineers and practitioners working either in fundamental areas of image processing, developing new methods and techniques, including innovative machine learning approaches, as well as multimedia communications technology and applications of image processing and artificial vision in diverse areas.

PAPER SUBMISSION
Authors can submit their work in the form of a complete paper or an abstract, but please note that accepted abstracts are presented but not published in the proceedings of the conference. Complete papers can be submitted as a Regular Paper, representing completed and validated research, or as a Position Paper, portraying a short report of work in progress or an arguable opinion about an issue discussing ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research focused on one of the conference topic areas.
Authors should submit a paper in English, carefully checked for correct grammar and spelling, addressing one or several of the conference areas or topics. Each paper should clearly indicate the nature of its technical/scientific contribution, and the problems, domains or environments to which it is applicable. To facilitate the double-blind paper evaluation method, authors are kindly requested to produce and provide the paper WITHOUT any reference to any of the authors, including the authors’ personal details, the acknowledgments section of the paper and any other reference that may disclose the authors’ identity.
When submitting a complete paper please note that only original papers should be submitted. Authors are advised to read INSTICC's ethical norms regarding plagiarism and self-plagiarism thoroughly before submitting and must make sure that their submissions do not substantially overlap work which has been published elsewhere or simultaneously submitted to a journal or another conference with proceedings. Papers that contain any form of plagiarism will be rejected without reviews.
All papers must be submitted through the online submission platform PRIMORIS and should follow the instructions and templates that can be found under Guidelines and Templates. After the paper submission has been successfully completed, authors will receive an automatic confirmation e-mail.
