RATIONALE
=========
Recent advancements in artificial intelligence, wearable technologies, big data analytics, and healthcare technology in general have ushered in the era of mHealth, revolutionizing healthcare services. This transformation is not only reshaping the way we approach healthcare but also paving the way for personalized nutrition, healthier lifestyles to prevent diseases and achieve effective self-management of chronic conditions.  A significant challenge in nutrition research is acquiring high-quality, precise nutrition information in an economically viable manner. Mobile and wearable technologies, with their flexibility and efficiency, coupled with the capabilities of artificial intelligence enable the analysis of large volumes of multi-level and heterogeneous data, pattern detection, risk prediction, and intervention guidance. This fusion holds immense potential for promoting healthier dietary habits and behaviors and facilitating communication between caregivers and care recipients. The need for accurate, automatic, real-time, and personalised dietary advice has been recently complemented by advances in artificial intelligence and computer vision, permitting the development of end-to-end pipelines for food content analysis. The proposed solutions rely on the analysis of multimedia content captured by wearable sensors, smartphone cameras, barcode scanners, RFID readers and IR sensors, along with already established nutritional and recipe databases and may require some user input. In the field of nutritional management, multimedia not only bridges diverse information and communication technologies, but also computer science with medicine, nutrition, and dietetics. This confluence brings new challenges and opportunities on dietary monitoring, assessment, and management.
SCOPE
=====
The main scope of MADiMa2024 is to bring together researchers from the diverse fields of engineering, computer science and nutrition who investigate the use of information and communication technologies for better monitoring, assessment, and management of food intake. The combined use of multimedia, machine learning algorithms, ubiquitous computing and mobile technologies permits the development of applications and systems able to monitor the dietary behavior, analyze food intake, identify eating patterns, and provide feedback to the user towards healthier nutrition. The researchers will present and demonstrate their latest progress and discuss novel ideas in the field. Besides the technologies used, emphasis will be given to the precise problem definition, the available nutritional databases, the need for benchmarking multimedia databases of packed and unpacked food and the evaluation protocols.

– Food detection and segmentation (vision foundation models, SAM, etc.)
– LLMs/LVMs to automatize food composition analysis (recipe comprehension, database reading, nutritional content estimation, etc.)
– Monocular/Binocular depth estimation from mobile/static sensors
– 3D point cloud processing and analysis for food volume estimation
– Augmented/Virtual reality for food analysis and portion estimation
– Benchmarks, evaluation protocols, and metrics for the above topics

Call for tutorials at ACCV 2024 in Hanoi, Vietnum, Dec 8-12

We invite proposals for tutorials to be held in conjunction with the
Asian Conference on Computer Vision (ACCV) 2024 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
ACCV tutorials aim to provide a comprehensive overview of specific
topics in computer vision. The topic should be sufficiently relevant
to the state of the art; for example, we welcome tutorials on
foundational models in computer vision, recent advances in vision and
language models, open-source efforts in large models, or a novel
application of generative models. The tutorial course should be
educational rather than a cursory survey of techniques, and we
encourage tutorial organizers to prepare a variety of formats, such as
a hands-on style. The audience for ACCV tutorials consists of graduate
students in computer vision and practitioners from various fields.
Although most courses are half-day offerings (3-4 hours), we also
invite proposals for full-day courses (5-7 hours), provided that the
topic merits the additional time and can be expected to generate
sufficient interest from our community. The chairs will evaluate
submissions based on several criteria, including the breadth and
relevance of the topic, the credentials of the proposers, the
diversity of the organizing team and speakers, and the interested
audience.

## Submission guidelines

Proposals should be in PDF format and limited to 6 pages using this
ACCV template (references not counted for page limit). They should be
submitted to the Chairs at accv24-tutorials@googlegroups.com by June
28, 2024 at 23:59 AoE, including the following information:

– Tutorial title.
– Proposers’ names, titles, affiliations, and primary contact email.
– Relevant keywords summarizing the tutorial topic.
– Short bio for each organizer, including pointers to relevant publications.
– How diversity and inclusion in the organizing team and speakers is
promoted (gender, race, seniority, affiliations, interdisciplinarity
of topics and points of view).
– Preference for a half-day or full-day event and indicative breakdown
of the day.
– Course description includes topics that will be covered and a brief outline.
– Anticipated target audience (introductory, intermediate, advanced)
and expected number of attendees.
– Description of how this proposal relates to previous tutorials/short
courses at CVPR /ICCV/ECCV/ACCV conferences in the last three years.
– Planned materials (if any) to be distributed to attendees.

## Advertisement, budget & registration

The tutorial organizers are responsible for the scientific
organization and promotion of the event and for defining the tutorial
program. ACCV local arrangements will provide and pay for rooms,
coffee breaks, and A/V equipment. All other budget-related activities
are the responsibility of the tutorial organizers. Registration for
the tutorials will follow the passport system: ACCV attendees will
register for tutorials using the ACCV conference registration form.

ICPR 2024 Competition: DAGECC – Submissions open

This challenge is hosted on Codabench and encompasses two independent tracks on domain generalization and unsupervised domain adaptation, utilizing two brand new datasets: Safran-MNIST-D and Safran-MNIST- DLS. Both datasets comprise images of serial numbers extracted from diverse avionic parts.

I am excited to introduce you to the first International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare (AIiH 2024), which will take place in Swansea, United Kingdom, from September 4th to September 6th, 2024. This premier conference aims to bring together researchers and practitioners dedicated to enhancing healthcare through the use of modern artificial intelligence .
AIiH 2024 is now welcoming late-breaking short abstract submissions. These submissions can be included as either poster presentations or short spotlight presentations at the conference. As technology advances in different sub-domains of computing, data-driven models are becoming increasingly important. The data-dependent world now faces many challenges in terms of data accuracy and data privacy. High-impact advancements include machine learning, artificial intelligence, deep learning and many more. We live in a world with a great need for more efficient data analysis and processing.
