on Computational Intelligence (IEEE SSCI 2018)
MOTIVATION
Given the current global security environment, there has 
been increased interest within the security and defense 
communities in novel techniques for solving challenging problems. 
The genesis of this interest lies in the fact that repeated 
attempts of using traditional techniques have left many important 
problems unsolved, and in some cases, not addressed. 
New problems have emerged within the broad areas of security and 
defense that are difficult to tackle with conventional methods, 
thus requiring new techniques for detecting and adapting 
to emerging threats. 
The purpose of the symposium is to present current and ongoing efforts 
in computational intelligence (e.g., neural networks, fuzzy systems, 
evolutionary computation, swarm intelligence, and other emerging 
learning or optimization techniques) as applied to security 
and defense problems. 
SCOPE
This symposium aims at publishing high-quality research efforts 
rooted in Computational Intelligence as applied to defense and 
security problems. First-class contributions addressing research 
challenges in these areas and their CI-based solutions 
(i.e., neural networks, fuzzy systems, evolutionary computation, 
swarm intelligence, rough sets, granular computing, and other 
emerging learning or optimization techniques) are solicited.

Introduction

Edge computing is an emerging computing paradigm that plays its complimentary role in optimizing cloud computing by performing data processing at the edge of the network, near the source of the data. As the computation and the communication process of heterogeneity hidden networks involve intelligent decision making, the edge computing approach is bridged as a key challenge for next generation communiction/computing paradigms in the literature

In this book, we aim at providing the reader with an insight overview of what is going on the Edge Computing/Mobile Edge Computing in terms of communication protocols and related up to date applications and Architectures.

Full book chapters need to be formatted according the Springer instructions and submitted in Word (2010 or higher) or PDF format. Extreme Learning Machines (ELM) aims to enable pervasive learning and pervasive intelligence. As advocated by ELM theories, it is exciting to see the convergence of machine learning and biological learning from the long-term point of view. ELM may be one of the fundamental `learning particles’ filling the gaps between machine learning and biological learning (of which activation functions are even unknown). ELM  represents a suite of (machine and biological) learning techniques in which hidden neurons need not be tuned: inherited from their ancestors or randomly generated. ELM learning theories show that effective learning algorithms can be derived based on randomly generated hidden neurons (biological neurons, artificial neurons, wavelets, Fourier series, etc) as long as they are nonlinear piecewise continuous, independent of training data and application environments. Increasingly, evidence from neuroscience suggests that similar principles apply in biological learning systems. ELM theories and algorithms argue that “random hidden neurons” capture an essential aspect of biological learning mechanisms as well as the intuitive sense that the efficiency of biological learning need not rely on computing power of neurons. ELM theories thus hint at possible reasons why the brain is more intelligent and effective than current computers.

 

The main theme of ELM2018 is: Hierarchical ELM, AI for IoT, Synergy of Machine Learning and Biological Learning

 

Organized by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and co‐organized by Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, China, University of New South Wales, Australia and City University of Hong Kong, ELM2018 will be held in Singapore. This conference will provide a forum for academics, researchers and engineers to share and exchange R&D experience on both theoretical studies and practical applications of the ELM technique and biological learning.

 

Tutorial proposals:

All interesting topics on general artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques are welcome, which include but not limited to: deep learning, hierarchical learning, reinforcement learning, sparse coding, clustering, extreme learning machines, etc.

 

Accepted papers presented in this conference will be published in conference proceedings and selected papers will be recommended to reputable ISI indexed international journals.

Esta capacitación repiensa la lógica profesional en la educación pública universitaria, al avanzar en la conformación de espacios de articulación con la sociedad civil, enriqueciendo sus conocimientos académicos específicos con el aporte de las experiencias y saberes de los distintos actores sociales con los que se vincula.

De esta manera se logra tener una mirada transdisciplinaria que permite abordar proyectos de forma integral, participativa e inclusiva, sin imponer tecnologías o soluciones preconcebidas, arribando a resultados con mejor integración cultural, ambiental, económica y social, en la que se puedan fortalecer los valores éticos y la conciencia colectiva.

Por otra parte, pretende promocionar el debate y la difusión de nuevos paradigmas y modelos de desarrollo como el de la Sostenibilidad, brindando las herramientas necesarias para abordar problemáticas complejas, promoviendo y fortaleciendo la Responsabilidad Social el enfoque de Derechos Humanos, a través de la formación de profesionales comprometidos con las nuevas realidades y dinámicas sociales, para que puedan participar activamente de los procesos de cambio, e incluso incidir o ser artífices de nuevas políticas públicas.

Asimismo, otorga la posibilidad concreta de interacción con el diverso universo de actores sociales al alentar el trabajo concreto en el terreno, bajo los principios de la responsabilidad social, y asume un compromiso en la generación de agentes de cambio que puedan enfrentarse a los retos complejos surgidos en torno a la globalización.

REQUISITOS
Este curso está destinado a los graduados universitarios, que trabajen actualmente o aspiren a trabajar en proyectos sociales, en relación directa con distintas comunidades o colectivos, desde diversas instituciones públicas o privadas, la función pública, la sociedad civil, las organizaciones de base o cualquier otro ámbito que contemple la intervención en el territorio.

DURACIÓN
El curso tendrá una duración total de 4 meses (62 horas), y se dictará a través de:
1) Una cursada semanal de tres horas (19 a 22 hs.)
2) Un sábado por mes de cuatro horas

INICIO Y CURSADA
El curso comenzará el 6 de Abril, y se dictará los días viernes de 19 a 22 hs. en Medrano 951, CABA.
También se cursará en días sábados de 9 a 13 hs., con fechas a confirmar en el primer día de cursada.
